Louis Roederer Rosé Champagne
Louis Roederer remains one of the last 100% independent, family-owned Champagne Houses, presided over by seventh generation Frédéric Rouzaud. Under the stewardship of Chef du Cave, Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon these past two decades, Louis Roederer has become the largest Biodynamic Domaine in Champagne with their 242 hectares located in the three most important sub-regions: Montagne de Reims (La Montagne); Vallée de la Marne (La Rivière) and Côtes des Blancs (La Côte). In March 2021, following 20 years of environmental transition, 115 hectares of the historic Louis Roederer family vineyard achieved organic certification. An extraordinary vintage which is also the year in which the Champagne region was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site! 2015 followed the continental trend of that decade: a mild, wet winter and a hot, dry summer. The summer, hot and sunny, brought record-breaking temperatures and water stress. The second half of August brought some very welcome rain, giving the vines some much needed relief. Thanks to this fresh finish, the vines produced juicy, ripe and concentrated grapes. Our ambition for this vintage? To capture the concentration which is the hallmark of this spectacular vintage! A rosé created by a long, gentle infusion of Pinot noir that extracts its juicy ripeness while preserving its tremendous saline freshness. In this process, some Chardonnay juices are added to the Pinot noir maceration, to ferment together and achieve the perfect integration of the two grape varieties.
Jim Barry Single Vineyard Eastern Ranges Cabernet Sauvignon
The late Jim Barry was a pioneer of Australian table wine, graduating with the 17th diploma in winemaking in Australia. He went on to become the first qualified winemaker to work in the Clare Valley of South Australia and with his wife, Nancy, built a successful wine business, which has produced trophy-winning wines since its establishment in 1959. Today, the custodian of Jim Barry Wines is their second son Peter, who joined the family winery in 1977 and now works along side his own sons, Tom and Sam. The Barry family name is synonymous with the Clare wine region. The Barry family believe that great wine is made in the vineyard and as such, are committed to owning their own vineyards. This control allows them to develop outstanding fruit quality and flavour which are then retained during winemaking. Over the last 60 years the family has worked to establish a mosaic of sites - 17 vineyards covering 320 hectares in the Clare Valley and two vineyards covering 35 hectares in the Coonawarra. Each unique in soil profile, climate, aspect and elevation. Each year, the Jim Barry winemakers identify distinctive parcels of fruit the reflect the vineyard from which they are grown. This small-batch project allows the creation of unique, vintage-specific wines that highlight the best fruit from vineyards owned by the family. This Cabernet was sourced from older Cabernet vines at the Lodge Hill property and shows the hallmark earthy characteristics of Clare Cabernet with elegant, fine tannins and vibrant purple fruit flavours. An intense and decadent of red wine, Jim Barry Eastern Ranges 2016 is a single vineyard Cabernet is rich and robust with dark fruit, menthol, dark chocolate and spicy flavours matched with food-friendly acidity finishing long and velvety on the palate. Mount Mary Quintet
Australia's premier cool climate Cabernet. It was John Middleton's dream to create such a wine and purchased the Mount Mary property in the Yarra Valley in 1971 to persue this dream. Quintet is his dream realised and is a blend of the classic Bordeaux varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.
Morningside Pinot Noir
Product Information: Morningside produces Pinot and Chardonnay that's brimming with potential - powerful, redolent wines with rich colour and varietal typicity. The site is perched on peaty, rich soils, with a precious sliver of limestone. This will be the last Pinot Noir produced in the structured style Morningside Vineyard so strike while the iron is hot. This site is now in the capable hands of the neighbours at Pressing Matters. The 2019 Morningside Pinot Noir receives 10-20% whole bunches the fruit is given a four-day cold soak, followed by wild-yeast fermentation over 7-10 days. The wine is matured for 12 months in seasoned French oak barriques. Delicious dark fruit like blackberries and black currants complemented by a gentle mocha finish. Maker: Morningside Vineyard is located at Tea Tree in southeast Tasmania’s Coal River Valley wine region. Tea Tree is a 30-minute drive from Hobart (35 kilometres) and just a few kilometres from the historic village of Richmond. The name ‘Morningside’ was given to the old property on which the vineyard stands because it gets the morning sun; as you'd imagine the other side of the valley was known as Eveningside. Peter and Brenda Bosworth established the vineyard in 1980 the vineyard is planted to 2.8 hectares of vines, mostly to a selection of nine different clones of Pinot Noir. Over the years Morningside has consistently produced fine, elegant wines and was awarded Best Tasmanian Small Grower-Maker in Phil Laing’s detailed summary of the Tasmanian wine industry, Tasmanian Wines. Vineyard: Coal River Valley is one of Tasmania’s and Australia’s most picturesque and historical towns – the vineyards of Morning Side Vineyard (Now part of Pressing Matters) are producing Bungundian-like Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs in the fertile and lush soils of Coal River Valley. Overall, the Coal River Valley is responsible for about 13% of Tasmania’s wine production The Coal River Valley was part of the territory of the Oyster Bay, originally called Mumirimina by Indigenous people and became one of the earliest areas used by the first British settlers outside Hobart with Richmond established in the 1820s. Valued for its life giving river systems and nutritious soils, the first British settlers used the Valley as a mixture of grazing, pastureland and crop growing. Fast forward to today. The land is primarily used for slow-maturing, cool-weather grapes and while the area is still celebrated for its peaty, rich soils, there is a rare slither of limestone in the Valley upon which Morningside & Pressing Matters vineyards sit. .This limestone adds finesse, minerality and structure to the wines. Nose - Blackberries, Blackcurrants, Wood Spice Subtle briary, dark fruited with blackberries and ripe raspberries, vanilla and sandalwood. Palate - Dark Fruits, Earth, Mineral Fruit driven, chocolatey notes, fleshy with persistent acidity to balance. Finish - Powerful, Velvety, Mocha Warm fruity finish, complemented by a gentle mocha finish and fine tannins.
