A superb WA classic from Five Red Star Howard Park, originally set up by John Wade and named in honour of his father, now part of Burch Family Wines, a founding member of Australia’s First Families of Wines. “No barrel fermentation or lees working, the two varieties having a close natural affinity with each other. Citrus and green pea marry with passionfruit and gooseberry, citrus the lead player. One of those wines made for consumption, not nerdy wine conversation... 91 points” (Halliday).

An excellent food wine, it matches well with just about any foods you might match a dry white wine to, but fresh white seafood dishes (white fish, squid, prawns & crabs) are perhaps the best accompaniment to this wine.

Enticing florals lead you in, with green apples and citrus taking hold. Pleasantly rich pear and peach meld wth grapefruit for a zippy and crisp race across the palate. This fresh expression of Pinot Grigio comes from Angove Family Winemakers, one of Australia's oldest and most-respected wineries. This gorgeously refreshing white is made by the talented John Quarisa, who – aside from winning a coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy – has enjoyed a “distinguished career as a winemaker spanning over 20 years” (Halliday). John likes his wines to express big personality, juicy fruit and value for money. They also have a magic knack of winning Gold – often several times over! Mouthwateringly fresh and bursting with citrus. Lemon and lime run across the palate, with subtle green apple hints. This Gold winner would happily pair with a platter of fresh prawns.

It's nice to see a straight varietal Semillon from Margaret River that hasn't been blended with its regular partner Sauvignon Blanc, and this is a delicious example.Excellent straw green colour. Bright and primary lime, lemon and green apple. Fine lemon and lime juice entry with good tension and length, mouth-watering acidity, some pithy textural elements and a fresh finish.

Aromas of freshly cut green apple blend with fennel and vanilla on a complex but restrained nose. The palate bursts with flavours of lime juice and white blossoms. The acid is firm but harmonious and drives the palate long through the finish. The wine finishes with a lovely dryness and feeling of refreshment.
