Shiraz

Giaconda Nantua Shiraz

Giaconda vineyard was established by Rick Kinzbrunner, a mechanical engineer who became interested in wine in the early 1970's. Rick then spent the next ten years working in the industry, travelling and following his passion for wine. After a brief stint in New Zealand, he studied at Davis University in California and worked at some of the most respected wineries in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys (namely Stag's Leap, Simi and Matanzas Creek). In Europe he worked for the Moueix group in Bordeaux, co-owner of the fabled Chateau Petrus.

Ben Glaetzer Amon-Ra Shiraz

The irrepressible Ben Glaetzer is the driving force behind Glaetzer Wines. Ben graduated in winemaking from Adelaide University in South Australia after working at Barossa Valley Estate during school and university holidays. Amon-Ra Shiraz is an iconic wine that epitomises Ben Glaetzer’s passion to create wines that are full flavoured, multi layered and intense but still elegant, stylish and finely balanced. In Egyptian mythology, Amon-Ra is considered to be the king of all gods. The temple of Amon-Ra was believed to be the first temple to ever plant a monoculture vineyard to produce wine for the citizens of the temple.

Ben Glaetzer Anaperenna

Glaetzer Anaperenna is a seamless fusion of the two varieties Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Voluptuous, opulent and yet refined, with a very long and satisfying finish. The name Anaperenna has been inspired by Anna Perenna, the Roman goddess of the New Year. Anna Perenna symbolises the year's cycle and her name translates as 'enduring year'. Romans honoured Anna Perenna with a festival held on the first full moon of the Roman calendar. On March 15th they would ask Anna to grant them longevity, and a healthy year for each glass of wine they drank on that day. The symbol on the label is the Egyptian Ankh (pronounced: onk). Historically the ankh symbolised sunrise, regeneration, regrowth and renewal.

Bubb + Pooley Shiraz

Bubb+Pooley Wines is a venture born out of passion and expertise. Justin Bubb and Anna Pooley, both with over 20 years of experience in winemaking across the globe, have finally decided to release their own wines. After working with premium vineyards throughout Tasmania, they are now collaborating with exceptional vineyards and people across the state to produce wines that connect with their philosophy of making wine from the ground up. Their use of concrete vessels is not an experiment but a traditional style of vessel that has been used for centuries in the Old World. Each shape has been chosen specifically to enhance the texture of the varietal within them and these beautiful, handcrafted vessels will last lifetimes. At Bubb+Pooley Wines, sustainability threads through and underpins their approach to everything they do. All of their decisions are focused on how they can do things better in order to minimize their impact on the environment. Their wines are raw, expressive and speak of place. The Coal River Valley wine region is located in Clarence, Tasmania, just northeast of Hobart. It was named after the first village that discovered coal in the area. The majority of grapes are grown on northern slopes and the region produces high-quality Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon blanc. The cool climate alluvial and sandy soils with a high concentration of clay sandstone provide a unique terroir for the wines. Bubb + Pooley Shiraz 2022 is a wine that truly pushes the boundaries of what a Shiraz can be. An exciting twist on their Syrah this year sees the inclusion of Viognier, creating a blend of Syrah from the Tamar Valley and Coal River Valley co-fermented with whole bunches of exotic Viognier. Hand harvested, destemmed and open fermented with 6% Viognier inclusion, this wine has produced a truly unique and aromatic experience. On the nose, it offers a bouquet of dark fruit, black pepper and exotic spices with hints of floral and citrus notes from the Viognier. On the palate, the wine is rich and full-bodied with layers of texture and flavors of blackberry, plum and a hint of vanilla. The tannins are firm yet silky, providing a long, smooth finish. The Bubb + Pooley Shiraz 2022 is a wine that is both complex and approachable, perfect for any wine lover looking to try something new and exciting. It's a wine that can be enjoyed on its own or paired with a variety of dishes, from grilled meats to hearty stews.

Farr Rising Shiraz

Farr Rising is already right up there when it comes to quality and excitement. The wines could barely boast better pedigree, with Nick Farr at the helm and impeccable fruit sources. These range from Pinot and Chardonnay grapes from the Farrs' own 2002 plantings to 35-year-old vines from 10km further down the Moorabool valley. Made in an earlier-drinking style than some of the By Farr range, the Farr Rising wines often go toe-to-toe with their illustrious label-mates. They represent some of the best-value terroir-driven wines available. This Shiraz fruit comes from an original By Farr site, planted in 1994 in black cracking clay soil, which dries very quickly. This is the first of the Shiraz vineyards to be picked and, being the warmer site, fits perfectly into the Farr Rising line-up. Farr Rising Shiraz shows how refinement and fruit flavour can come together. The fruit is 85 to 90% destemmed before being cooled and placed in the tank for 19 days to ferment naturally. It sees 18 months in French oak (10% new) and is bottled under vacuum.

Shaw & Smith Shiraz

The trailblazers of the Adelaide Hills have created another outstanding wine. A superb expression of modern cool-climate Shiraz; Shaw & Smith is elegantly spicy and brimming with supple red-fruit flavours matched by fine tannins. An absolute ripper.

Langmeil The Freedom 1843 Shiraz

Two Hands Samanthas Garden Shiraz

Wild Duck Creek Estate Duck Muck Shiraz

Best of Bin Ends Shiraz (Case of 12)

This shiraz has aromas of blackberry and plums with spicy oak. A soft yet full-bodied palate with black currant and blackberry, leading to a long, rich, oak finish.
