Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey Sauternes

Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is one of the affordable stars of Sauternes, and the 2008 is a great, early drinking vintage. One of the most spectacular Château's in Sauternes the wines of the past 20 years have been quite exceptional. With the 2008 vintage being succulent and approachable, this wine is perfect for the dessert table today.

Château Climens Barsac

Château Climens is regarded by many as the regions best wine after Yquem. Although it is slightly unfair to compare them due to their inherent differences in style and approach. Climens are known for elegance, purity and freshness, while Yquem is known for concentration and lusciousness. The 2009 vintage throughout Bordeaux can only be described as 'perfect' - Barsac in the south was no different. A wine for the ages that will repay those willing to cellar this sweet wine gem ten fold.

Château Nairac Barsac

Château Nairac has a romantic tale that surrounds the emergence of Nairac as a supreme Barsac producer. Tom Heeter came to work at Château Giscours from the United States and he fell in love with the daughter of the house and after spotting that Château Nairac was up for sale, promptly bought it set to making powerful Barsac sweet whites using traditional methods.

Château Filhot Sauternes

Château Filhot is set amongst the woods and fields of Sauternes and is one of the most beautiful estates in the region. No oak is used in the production of Filhot, only glass-fibre vats that contribute to the elegant structure of the wines, rarely becoming the uncious and full bodied wines that generally have a higher proportion of Semillon. The Filhot from the 2009 vintage is dominated by a subtle nutty note, most prominantly almond. While honey, apricot and peach play their role, it is the almond nose and palate that set this wine apart and is a major part of its exotic appeal. Please note: 750mL bottle
