Vineyard The Keltern Vineyard sits east of Maraekakaho in Hawkes Bay, nestled along the cool edge of the Bridge Pa Triangle and bordered by the Ngaruroro River. Planted on an ancient riverbed, the vineyard’s unique soils—a combination of silt loams layered over red metals and gravel stones—provide ideal conditions for Chardonnay. The cool air currents from nearby mountain ranges and meticulous vineyard management, including pruning to one bunch per shoot, result in lower yields and higher concentration in the grapes. For the 2022 vintage, hand-harvested Clone 15 vines, now at peak maturity, were selected, allowing Keltern’s character to shine through. The Villa Maria Chardonnay 2022 is fruit-driven in style, exhibiting ripe peach with underlying citrus and fig characters. On the palate, these flavours are enhanced by a creamy texture and a delicate suggestion of oak. A medium-bodied Chardonnay that is styled for enjoyment upon release with or without food.

Villa Maria Private Bin East Coast Pinot Gris 2022 vintage consists of a variety of parcels blended from different vineyard sites across several key regions. The warmer Gisborne region provides ripe fruit with soft acidity and the South Island provides freshness and aromatics. This Pinot Gris has fresh and intense aromatics of pear, red apple and honeysuckle, leading to a rich and textured mouthfeel and a delicious off-dry finish. Pair this wine with seafood, soft cheeses, salads and white meats.

In 1961, at just 21 years of age, George Fistonich leased five acres of land from his father in Mangere, Auckland and started off with just an acre of vines. George made his first wine under the name Villa Maria in 1962 with grapes harvested from this block. Today Villa Maria is New Zealand's most awarded winery. Villa Maria Private Bin Hawkes Bay Rose 2022 vintage is a beautiful salmon pink colour. The nose has bright floral aromas leading to a palate of red fruits, spice, and strawberries. The grapes for this Lighter Sauvignon Blanc were harvested from carefully selected early-ripening vineyard sites, enabling the alcohol content to be naturally 25% lighter.
