Adelaide brothers, Jon and Con Lioulios own and run Thirty Six Short Distillery from Virginia in South Australia, where they recently launched Australia's first Rakia - partly as a tribute to their late Macedonian father, Pando whose dream was to distil traditional Rakia. The venture is actually named after Pando’s suit size, '36 Short'. A 1200 litre copper pot still also bears his name. The brother's first single malt was released in late 2021, cut back with water sourced from an aquifer that runs directly underneath the distillery. The barrels are locally sourced, x-Shiraz, shaven and charred American oak barrels. This initial maturation is followed by further resting in x Bourbon barrels to add fruity notes, before the liquid is finally returned to the Shiraz casks for a finishing. Advanced in colour, it feels more like a sherry matured Scottish malt than a warm climate Australian whisky. Aromas of oak shavings, pepper, cocoa and a dry nuttiness confirm the wine character, as does the full-bodied delivery: Dried fruits come through at the middle; Cherry ripe chocolate leads the finish where sweeter Bourbon-like notes converge over the wood spices. Even if the oak is a bit overdone, especially after air contact, it's an undeniable success for a first edition. 45% Alc./Vol. Notes from the producers... NOSE: Sweet and fruity on the nose, with tart lime marmalade notes. A faint aroma of fresh cut pine and tropical fruit adds a delicate malt finish. TASTE: A warm roundness encompassing the whisky with character of a tangy dried fruit medley. A hint of vanilla bean, taking you on a long, sweet fruity journey. FINISH: A beautiful long finish with a taste of dried mixed fruit. Lingering with notes of apricot and peaches with a warming finish.

Its earliest origins date back to the Middle Ages, since then the drink has evolved from a herbal medicine to the classic Gin that remains so popular today. Gin derives its predominant flavour from juniper berries (which are full of antioxidants) with perfectly balanced botanicals – so we think this is just the tonic for those who need a rejuvenating drink at the end of a busy day. Serving Suggestions: To serve, fill two tumblers with ice, fill glasses evenly with Dr Onyx Just Gin, top with a quality tonic water (we recommend Fever Tree) and a squeeze of fresh lime, dropping the lime into the glass. Speakeasy 500ml Dry Martini Dry Martini: Ernest Hemingway described the Martini best “I’ve never tasted anything so cool and clean…They make me feel civilised”. It was James Bond’s drink of choice where the catchphrase “shaken, not stirred” was introduced in Diamonds Are Forever (1956), and then incorrectly referred to as “stirred, not shaken” in You Only Live Twice (1967), to Bond’s response “Perfect”. The Martini rose to prominence during the 1950s and 60s when the ‘three-martini lunch’ was widespread. Whilst the stance on workplace drinking might have changed, our affection for the Martini hasn’t. An excellent tonic for those wanting to step back to a more sophisticated time. Serving Suggestions: To serve, pour Dr Onyx Dry Martini into a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir, and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with an olive or citrus zest, squeeze to release the oils over the glass before you dropping it in. Ingredients: Dry Gin, Dry Vermouth, Bitters, Water. The flagship white wine from Hardy's, the Eileen Hardy has become one of Australia's benchmark Chardonnays. Complex, elegant and very much cool climate in style it drinks superbly now and will only improve.

To create this truly unique whisky, we selectively sourced rare malted rye and the finest malted barley from progressive malt houses, paired them with virgin American oak casks air-dried for 36 months and let it all mature in the maritime air of coastal Sydney. Our preference for malted rye over the far more commonly used unmalted rye affords this whisky a point of distinction evident upon the very first sip. This layered, aromatic spirit offers notes of spiced custard, ginger, stone fruit and baked apple pie with a fresh herbal finish that lingers on the palate.

Made using a tradition family recipe and Queensland barley aged for 7 years in ex redwine reconditioned French Oak barriques with American oak heads. This whisky displays rich luxurious amber colour, sweet honey and spice on the nose. Complex sherry, port and vanilla on the palate. Perfect for celebrating births, weddings, wakes and anything in between.
