Krondorf KingsMantle Shiraz

"Elegant, opulent and powerful, King’s Mantle is the winery’s crowning selection. Evocative aromas of blackberry, blueberry, boysenberry, graphite and olive tapenade precede a concentrated, intense palate of black forest fruits seamlessly integrated with oak. The Standish Wine Company The Standish Single Vineyard Shiraz

Langton's Classification: Excellent

Sourced from the Standish Family Vineyard Siegersdorf Road, Vine Vale, Barossa Valley. Planted on own roots in 1912. Dense, latent and strapping, this flaunts the flawless purity that can be leached from the famed sandy flints of Vine Vale. Tightly wound with its cards close to the vest, deep-set aromatics of coal, pressed currant and black truffle are foiled by redolent tones of tilled soil, beef broth and slow roasted meats. Dark and brooding with immense concentration, persistence and energy it is somewhat of a heroic style but is gently laced with a long fine cloak of silken tannin.

The Standish Wine Company The Relic Single Vineyard Shiraz Viognier

Dalwhinne Eagle Shiraz

David and Jenny Jones are making wine with tremendous depth of fruit flavour, reflecting the relatively low-yielding but very well- maintained vineyards in The Pyrenees. Their flagship Dalwhinnie Eagle Shiraz is a perfect example of this. Pristine and fresh with more of everything providing plenty of stuffing, redcurrant, blackberry and sage characters.

Swinney Farvie Syrah, Frankland River

Swinney Farvie Frankland River Syrah To achieve this, the grapes are hand-harvested from 1997 planted Syrah. The fruitof which about half is whole bunchis sorted, then gravity-fed into a vat and a brace of 600L demi-muids, all French oak. Wild fermentation follows and this is evidenced in the structure, complexity and aromatic nature of the wine. There is a week and a half of time spent on skins after which the wine is basket pressed directly into large format French oak, about a third new. With just a pinch of sulphites, the unfined wine is given a little filter and is then ready for bottling. 'ground-breaking syrah from Frankland River.'- Ray Jordan Shop Swinney
