Refresh yourself with a beautifully breezy, Tassie organic Sauvignon alive with tang and energy, from Tamar Valley's Small Wonder winery, set up in 2020, and certified organic in 2022. This is fruit-forward and very fresh, with appealing gooseberry flavours and herbal nuances with a note of ginger. Small Wonder came into being in 2020 on the site of the old Goaty Hill winery in the Tamar Valley. Viticulturalist Wayne Nunn and consultant Dylan Grigg oversaw the transformation to Organic certification in 2022, and the building of a state-of-the-art winery in 2024. Today winemaker Ockie Myburgh is at the helm. The Small Wonder website notes: “ Old vine Sauvignon Blanc in Tasmania is underrated. These vines struggle on the granite soils and have meagre yields but produce something extraordinary at this site.

This fresh and elegant white exclusive takes its name from the source of its premium fruit – the Marchington Vineyard, planted on the Marchington estate, by a man called John Smith, the alleged illegitimate son of a King of England, shipped to Tasmania in the 1800s. With an alcohol level of 9%, the Bream Creek Late Picked Schonburger displays light yellow hues. This dessert-style wine exudes delicate aromas of rose petals, apricots and honey with subtle hints of Turkish delight and baking spices from the luxurious bouquet. The palate is smooth and elegant with juicy characters of citrus, apricots and yellow peaches, leading to a clean and refreshing finish. Tasmania is very well suited to growing and producing Pinot Noir with its cool-climate and excellent terroir. Temperate days and cool nights at Derwent Estate have produced a silky Pinot Noir that oozes class. A delicate mix of sweet and savoury fruits with a long lasting finish.

We're really pleased by what we now find in the glass a fine, elegant, luxurious sparkling wine that is rich and complex in aroma and flavour, yet still retains the fundamental verve and freshness of the authentic non-vintage style. Its cool Tasmanian origins are as clear as a bell. The palate carries our region's Chardonnay-driven crisp, citrusy acidity which helps define the wine's classic structure and food-friendly character.

This wine shows an array of fruit characters, ranging from citrus through to tropical notes. This is complemented by some secondary characters from the natural yeast ferments and also some barrel aging. The palate has an elegant structure with a creamy, textural mid-palate and a long finish.

Off dry with 13 grams residual sugar this wine is perfectly balanced with crisp acidity. Stone fruits, green apple a hint of perfume rounded up with a crisp saline finish.
