COMMUNE OF BUTTONS ABC Chardonnay, Basket Range, Adelaide Hills Commune of Buttons began with a single dream between brother and sister, to continue as second-generation growers of grapes. For 7 years now, the fruit came from Gibbo’s Vineyard, high in the Piccadilly Valley. Located 560 meters above sea level, nights are cool and the days are fresh, making the region perfect for fruit ripening. Like the previous vintage it has all the hall marks of a great modern chardonnay. According to Halliday, it has great texture, flavour and length. There’s almost a chalkiness to the finish, but there’s plenty of stone fruit, green apple and toast flavours. Finishing with a gentle almond milk character adding that something extra.

Geoff Weaver Riesling
Geoff Weaver has journeyed from the big end of town to a tiny, intimate pocket of the Adelaide Hills. From his role as chief winemaker for the Hardy group of companies, in 1992 he made the break from corporate winemaking to pursue his own dream on the Lenswood vineyard that he and wife Judith had started planting a decade earlier. Those vines, some of the oldest in the Hills, are really reaping the rewards of maturity. Tightly structured yet aromatically lifted wine but with a supple mid-palate and a fine, crisp finish. The nose is fresh and lively with a lifted aroma of lime blossom. The palate is fruity with a juicy zest and a fine mineral edge.
