Torbreck The Steading

The 2015 Steading has a fragrancy, purity of fruit, mid-palate concentration and savoury tannin profile that makes it an exemplary wine. Vibrant aromas of violet, star anise hints of violet and spice all unfold to reveal an impressive array of underlying fruit flavours. Silky, succulent dark fruits, black olive, savoury earth, liquorice and Asian spice. These complex yet elegant flavours are all neatly interwoven with a perfect balance of acidity and supple, silky tannins. The 2015 Steading will continue to develop with time in the cellar, and provide those with patience great enjoyment well into the next decade.

Orlando Centenary Hill Barossa Shiraz

Orlando is one of the oldest brands in Australian wine, having been established in 1874 by the Gramps family. Centenary Hill Barossa Shiraz is a wine that stands out as an icon, a testament to Orlando’s legacy in South Australia, and the love of the Barossa. Sourced entirely from old vine blocks in the Southern Barossa, which are known to impart regional savoury flavours of dark chocolate and spice as well as dark berry and cherry fruits. The vine age produces small, low yielding crops with intensely flavoured berries, which lend dense red colour and ripe sweet tannins to the wine.

Kaesler Wines W.O.M.S. Shiraz Cabernet

Kaesler Wines W.O.M.S. Shiraz Cabernet, Barossa Valley W.O.M.S. stands for ‘Weapon of Mass Seduction.’ When it comes to the name of this wine, there are two camps – those who like it and those who very much don’t. Conduct this survey before and after tasting and the results will be quite different. Many in the ‘no’ camp, will switch sides after tasting this classic Australian blend of Shiraz (planted 1961) and Cabernet Sauvignon (planted 1985). Expect black cherry, vanilla and swatch of savoury notes. The WONS is made only in years where the fruit reaches dizzying heights in terms of quality. After pressing, the free-run juice is collected over a day and a half before making its way into mature Nevers oak. There it will remain in that state for more than two years prior to the final blending. Bottled without fining or filtering, the result is a wine that Kaesler advise will age for 30 years. But why so conservative? It could go on and on but it does need a bit of time in the cellar.

Krondorf Settler Old Vine Shiraz
