A gorgeously crisp, aromatic white from Tscharke, who are leading the way with organic wines that reflect the terroir and the personality of the fruit. And what fruit! Their mouthwatering ‘Girl Talk’ is a vibrant white made up of three delicious white varieties not commonly seen in Australia: Savagnin, Grenache Blanc and Albariño from vineyards in the Barossa sub-region of Marananga. It has lovely citrus, nectarine, passionfruit and field flowers on a lipsmacking, minerally palate. Tscharke says it’s ‘energetic and energising’ and we agree!

Although not typically lemony, this wine exhibits more complex aromas of smoked almonds and honeysuckle as well as buttery textures from the natural malolactic fermentation. The palate displays a spicy mineral flintiness with exotic fruit flavours.

‘PIQ’, or Piquepoul, is the newest white wine from the Lienert stable. A fresh dry white akin to Eden Valley Riesling, but without all that mucking about in high altitude stuff. In a nutshell, Piquepoul is kind of like Riesling, but with a tantalising ocean mist character about it. Heralding from southern France, this crisp refreshing white has claimed ‘Official Oyster Wine’ status in its home country, such is the degree to which oysters and Piquepoul are joined at the hip. It does of course pair equally as well with mussels, abalone, clams and pipis!

2019 Blue Rock Wines Reserve Eden Valley ChardonnayThe fruit for this wine comes from our cool climate Eden Valley vineyard. It was harvested at optimum ripeness and fermented at low temperatures to retain the varietal characteristics. It displays the clean and lifted varietal nose of guava and lemongrass followed by a crisp palate of green apples, stone fruit and rockmelon. A small portion (25%) of this wine completed its fermentation in oak barrels. This has imparted some nutty and honeyed characters to the wine. Well suited to most seafood dishes.

2018 Blue Rock Wines, Eden Valley Pinot Grigio Pinot Grigio is a wine style that comes from Italy. The Pinot Gris grapes are picked at a slightly earlier stage of development thus having higher acidity and lower sugar levels. The resultant wine is lower in alcohol and has a crisp acid finish. The aromas of citrus and pear indulge the nose. The palate has lovely nashi pear and lemongrass flavours. The zingy acidity makes this wine linger in the mouth and leaves you wanting more. Best enjoyed chilled, on its own or with fresh seafood.
