Established in 1985, the Tucks vines are planted in red volcanic clays with the elevation varying between 90 and 110 metres above sea level. A cooler site, which consistently delivers intensity of flavour and purity of fruit. Considered winemaking coaxes out what we think is the best expression of the site.

Racy and elegant with stunning purity; its mixed citrus and white floral notes combine brilliantly with a smoky edge to the fruit. Theres serious intensity and structure driving through the wines pulpy core. The balance, extract and length are all class.

A deep straw colour with a depth of promise that builds the anticipation. The wine is young and as such rightly shy and reticent. A bouquet of banana skin and melon in line with a generous ripening season. Wisps of citrus and biscuit, indications of length and structure. The palate is rich and generous. There is a wild puppy-like character to this wine with it’s youthful exuberance and cheekiness, aspects that will soften with age and time left alone to contemplate it’s future. It will create wonderful body over it’s long tight spine. In time there will be added creaminess and depth, with apple pie and lemon meringue complexity growing ever more prominent. Drink it now if you must, or wait and open your first bottle in 2-3 years where your greatest regret will have been not buying more. Barrel fermented and aged in French Oak for 18 months, this wine displays a complex bouquet of citrus, honey, melon and nutmeg spice. Soft and elegant acid through the back bone of this wine along with mid palate creaminess bring a unique richness.

Barrel fermentation with lees stirring allows the peach and apricot fruit characters of the Chardonnay grape to shine. The secondary malo-lactic fermentation gives a full buttery smoothness, balance and length to the finish of this magnificent cool climate wine.

PARINGA ESTATE The Paringa Single Vineyard Chardonnay, Mornington Peninsula

Le Stagiaire Chardonnay is drawn mostly from Garagistes Merricks vineyard, with the balance coming from Balnarring and Tuerong. Barney Flanders doesn't make these wines specifically for this labelall his ferments start out as potential single-vineyard wines, so the single-site wines are barrel selections, with the remaining wines bottled under Le Stagiaire. This provides some idea of how this label is able over-deliver, year in year out.

This Chardonnay by Jones Rd is precise, intense and rippling with concentration and nerve. Aromas of hazelnut, nougat, pears, grapefruit and florals. The palate has a fine etched acidity with savoury, nutty flavours. A piercing and linear wine with restrained grapefruit flavour, finishing crisp and mouth-watering fresh.
