During the late season’s annual harvest, using techniques passed down through generations, dedicated suppliers and farmers handpick and hand-peel each fruit at its most ripe and allow them to dry naturally under the Mediterranean sun, capturing only the brightest, most aromatic citrus oils that harvest has to offer. In each small batch, the master distiller selects the precise cut of the distillation to ensure each-and-every bottle is a fitting tribute to the region, the suppliers and farmers’ craftsmanship, and the supreme quality of that harvest ensuring the same outstanding liquid is produced each year. Inspired by the city of Edinburgh and made with both demanding bartenders and malt whisky enthusiasts in mind, Artist Blend from Compass Box Whisky is the perfect Scotch whisky for creative drinking. Bottled with a very high proportion of single malt whiskies, this whisky brims with flavour notes of apple, salted caramel and baking spices with a noticeably creamy mouthfeel and finish.

Glasgow Blend from Compass Box Whisky was inspired by historical references that Glaswegians have long preferred bigger, smokier whiskies. Full, rich and smoky on the palate, this whisky unites the spice and fruitcake-like notes of Sherry cask ageing with the maritime punch of Islay malt whisky. An old-school peaty blended Scotch whisky that is perfect both alone and in hand-crafted cocktails.

It's been over a decade since we've revisited the Balvenie range. From the 12 Year Old, right up to the venerable 30 year old expression, the house style emerges as one of the lightest and most delicate to be found from Speyside with almost no peat evident. 'Doublewood' gains its character from maturation in two woods, transferred from traditional x-Bourbon American oak to a Sherry oak casks for its final maturation. It's sometimes described as the classic, "essential" expression in Balvenie’s core range. From a 30ml sample, the nose is lifted with vanilla, dilute honey and dried fruits. The entry is featherweight, unfolding into a medium-weight dram with moderate flavours of dried fruit and a warm mouthfeel. An aftertaste of dried grass and drying oak sustains a little prickle. All up, this is uncomplicated and typical of the distillery style, but even at 12 years old, Doublewood still tastes surprisingly young. 40% Alc./Vol.
