Château Tanunda's Newcastle combines Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Carignan and Cinsault for this Rhône styled Barossa Valley red blend. The wine is deep and dark in colour with big, juicy aromas with a hint of vanilla and French oak. This Grant Burge Barossa Ink Cabernet Sauvignon is intensely deep red with purple hues. The bouquet is rich with blackcurrant, mint and dark chocolate. The textural palate has fine tanning, and excellent persistence with intense chocolate and berry flavours. A deeply coloured wine with great depth and varietal definition. The wine is matured in old French oak and tanks, with each parcel kept separate until the final blending prior to bottling in October 2017. Deep, dark hues of purple and burgundy, with dark plum, lashings of pepper, whispers of vanilla and allspice. Firm tannins powder-coat the palate, gently drying and setting up persistent flavours of red plum, star anise and aniseed.
