Running With Bulls Barossa Garnacha
Pouring a gorgeous raspberry hue with aromas of fresh coriander and grated nutmeg. Silky in texture with a juicy palate comprising strawberries and blood orange. Partial whole bunch fermented delivering a subtle amount of warming spice to finish. Sam Wigan started out in the wine industry by working a vintage with his father at Peter Lehmann wines before heading to Geyser Peak in California. Returning to Australia with the winemaking bug, Sams style involves letting the varietal characteristics of the grapes shine through, by using natural/wild fermentation and malolactic fermentation, with minimal additions and no finings. Having a nice meal with friends and family is one of his favourite things, so he crafts the wines to be fun, drinkable and best enjoyed with food and good company. JJ Hahn Reginald Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon
A full-bodied, full-flavoured classic is the promise behind the very deep brick red colour. Notes of tea leaf, cedar, sweet berries, spice, chocolate and cigar box aromas fill the glass. Ripe black forest fruits and spice are balanced by rounded tannins and seamless structure. The palate reflects the nose with flavours of cedar, stewed fruit and cigar box. Fine drying tannins. A pleasant lingering finish with restrained oak notes of mocha and tobacco. A fresh vibrant palate with good depth of flavour and layers of fruit. Very tight wine that is complex but not confusing. Drink up to five years.
St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz
St Hallett's Blackwell is big Shiraz for the lovers of ripe concentrated fruit and a generous measure of vanillin oak. A classic regional style, enjoy this beauty with robust beef or game dishes.
Glaetzer Wallace Shiraz Grenache
Ripe old vine Shiraz from the heart of the Barossa contributes weight and texture Grenache adding cherry toffee earthy characters and solid savoury tannins. Will reward careful cellaring for a decade.
Little Giant Barossa Shiraz
Add another South Australian red to your favourites list with this Little Giant Barossa Shiraz. This one has it all including berries, plums and floral aromas and a complex savoury palate that will be a winner with Shiraz fans.
Kilikanoon Kavel's Flock Shiraz
Back in the 1840s, Pastor Kavel led the Lutherans on their journey to the Barossa Valley to embark on a new life of religious freedom. From that mass migration a dynasty began. This Kilikanoon Shiraz, exclusive to Dan Murphy's, pays homage to this great history with a red of supreme power and concentration. Robust flavours of raspberry and earthen spice completed by subtle, ripe tannins give the wine balanced complexity and a nice length of flavour. Kavel's Flock is a continuation of an immense Kilikanoon legacy that has recently seen it awarded the James Halliday Winery of the Year for 2013.
Quattro Mano Novillo Tempranillo
Chris Taylor and his Quattro Mano wines have certainly made their mark on the modern Australian wine scene. Using 'alternate' Mediterranean varieties like this Tempranillo, Taylor handcrafts flavoursome and yet medium to full-bodied wines of utmost character. This Novillo Temp is choc full of dark berries, liquorice and that traditional hint of cola. Simply delectable.
Hentley Farm The Marl Shiraz
Hentley Farm is a boutique, single estate vineyard that focuses on producing premium quality single-estate and single-block wines reflective of their exceptional Barossan terrior. 'The Marl' takes its name from the fruit grown on red clay loam over marl (a friable earthy deposit consisting of clay and limestone) which reduces the water and nutrient availability producing low crops and rich flavours. True to the style, the Shiraz is layered with berry fruits with hints of dark chocolate, earth and subtle spice. While full-bodied the palate is soft with lovely lingering finish.
Henschke Henry's Seven Shiraz Grenache Viognier
This blend of Shiraz, Grenache and Viognier is a relatively recent addition to Henschke's impressive range. Typically fragrant plum and raspberry aromas, followed by a velvety palate with rich fruit flavours and well intergraded tannins. Henry's Seven will not disappoint.
