Coonawarra is regarded as Australia's premier region for Cabernet Sauvignon. The Reschke properties are located on the famous strip of 'terra rossa' soil in Coonawarra and has been owned by the family for almost 100 years. The fruit selected for Empyrean is the best on their 10.8 acre site and is only made in exceptional years.

Jim’s legacy can be seen in each of our wines as we strive to achieve a perfect balance of varietal and regional intensity, but with an elegance and charm which invite and entice the drinker to enjoy a second glass. The Author pays homage to pioneering vigneron John Riddoch (1827-1901). A true visionary, Riddoch is regarded as one of the founding fathers of Australian wine. The Author represents the finest expression of the vintage. The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is classic Coonawarra, with lush red berry fruit, with hints of plum, bramble and mint. Aged in a combination of new and old French Oak, seamlessly integrated with the fruit. Refined and silky tannins lead to a long and persistent length of flavour. This has all the hallmarks of a classic Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and will drink well now but will reward cellaring for 10-15 years.

95 Block Cabernet Sauvignon is deep ruby red in colours and very perfumed. Ripe Cabernet fruitalongside smooth cedar Bright and fruit driven, the addition of Petit Verdot brings a slightly floral nature. Ample tannins. Smooth finish.

Medium bodied with the plush dark berry fruit framed by fine grained tannins to give a long and persistent finish.

Made from fruit from a vineyard situated from the warmer end of the region in the northern part of Coonawarra. The vineyard is 20 to 25 years, with a mixture of red loam over limestone and ironstone, with the fruit machine picked. Red fruits with hints of plums and bramble flavours. Gently integrated oak moulds around the fruit. Well refined tannins leading into a good length of flavour.

A purposely early harvest to highlight a fresh red fruit spectrum, naturally lower alcohol, wild ferments, and the use of larger oak for maturation are just some of the techniques employed to make these beautiful food friendly wines.
