The Angullong vineyards are located on the southern lower slopes of the Orange region at the foothills of Mount Canobolas, an ancient volcano. Angullong’s topography is best described as dramatic. The country ranges from undulating to steep hills with spectacular limestone escarpments that radically descend to the fast flowing Belubula River. Barbera is an Italian variety that has been grown in Australia in small qualities since the 1960s. Angullong ‘Fossil Hill’ Barbera is a succulent, medium bodied, savoury wine with abundant cherry, raspberry and herb flavours, complemented by textural and balanced tannins. The variety is eminently suited to cooler regions and should mature well in the bottle over the next five or six years. Enjoy it with barbecued lamb.

Far from its traditional home in Spain the Tempranillo grape has found favourable growing conditions in a number of premium regions around Australia. This wine, from an old single vineyard near Young, displays earthy aromas of star anise and baked blueberry with rich rum and raisin notes. Red fruit on the palate with Provencale herbs framed by supple tannins. Match with food any time of the day or night.

Rowlee’s vineyard was planted over 20 years ago by Nik and Deonne Samodol in the high-elevation (950m) cool climate of Orange. Their daughter, Nicole Samodol, and her partner James Manny ‘combine European wine growing heritage with New World practices. This is an easy drinking, clean Cabernet Merlot blend with some notes of plum and cherry along with the blackberry and herby note from the Cabernet. Wine is a vibrant dark plum red colour with brick brown hues.On the nose a subtle white pepper and spicy berry fruit bouquet is rich and dominant. On the palate the lifted aromas follow through and complement the balanced structure of fine tannins, ripe berry flavours and a lean elegant finish. The fruit flavours fill the full length of the palate. This medium to full bodied wine will cellar for at least 8 years under the right conditions and combines beautifully with lamb, mild curry dishes or our favourite, Osso Bucco.

Winemaker Aaron Mercer has crafted a delicious modern Rosé using fruit from Orange, which has vineyards at some of the highest elevations in Australia.Pale pink in appearance. Rose water, nectarine and musk on the nose. Light-weight with a bright core of cranberry, watermelon and Turkish Delight, crisp and bright acidity and a long, savoury finish. Fresh and zippy.

All the hallmarks of classic cool climate Pinto Gris, but blessed with the nuances of fruit character, brought out by the Aussie sun, and lightly oaked.
