Nick O'Leary Shiraz

Whenever we taste a blind Shiraz line up where this wine is featured, it's hard not to be lured into its enticing character of purity and style. Hauntingly akin to a Northern Rhone example, violets, spice, wild herb and earth wrap around a delicious core of red fruits and plum. Bravo Nick O'Leary. 'Canberra's benign 201213 growing season produced, in abundance, grape quality not seen in the much cooler, wetter 2011 and 2012 vintages. Our exciting 2013 reds include Nick O'Leary's shiraz a jaw dropper that kept judges gaping as they piled gongs on it at the 2014 Royal Brisbane Wine Show. They gave it a gold medal, then three trophies: best one-year-old red of the show (Stoddart trophy), best shiraz of the show and best red of the show. This is a significant achievement for Canberra shiraz and not just for O'Leary. It provides yet more recognition, in a hotly contested national event, of our region's distinctive style. O'Leary's highly perfumed, medium-bodied wine shows the vibrant red berry- and-spice character of cool-grown shiraz on a luscious, silky palate, cut with fi ne tannins. This is a lot of wine at a modest price.' (2013 Vintage) - 4½ Stars. - Canberra Times, 03 Sep 2014.

CELEBRATION MIX FEIRE Blanc de Blancs sparkling white X3 FEIERN Cuvée Noir sparkling red X3

Feire and Feiern, named aptly to evoke celebration and festivity in German, offer a delightful journey into the world of sparkling wines crafted with precision and tradition. Feire, a sparkling blanc des blancs, invites enthusiasts into the realm of pure elegance. Made exclusively from the white grape, Chardonnay, it embodies freshness and finesse. Its creation through the méthode traditionelle, where secondary fermentation occurs in the bottle, followed by aging on lees for three years, results in a wine of complexity and depth. This process lends Feire a characteristic creamy texture and nuanced flavors that unfold with every sip, making it an ideal companion for joyous occasions. On the other hand, Feiern, a Cuvee Noir, celebrates with a blend that exudes richness and vibrancy. Crafted from a blend of red grapes, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, it promises a palate of red fruit notes intertwined with the signature effervescence of traditional method sparkling wines. Aged on lees for three years, Feiern develops a captivating bouquet and a refined structure that amplifies its role in festive gatherings and special moments. Both wines, steeped in the heritage of méthode traditionelle, offer not only a taste of luxury but also a tribute to meticulous craftsmanship. Their names reflect not just the Zerk sisters German heritage, but also a commitment to enhancing celebratory occasions with sparkling wines that are as delightful as they are memorable. Whether it's the purity of Feire's blanc des blancs or the exuberance of Feiern's Cuvee Noir, these sparkling wines embody the essence of celebration in every effervescent bubble.
