Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz

Langton's Classification: Outstanding

One of the benchmarks of Barossa Shiraz, Peter Lehmann's Stonewell is a classic example of the rich concentrated old vine style. While bold on the palate, there is always an inherent complexity to the Stonewell that enables it to be compared with all of the great Australian wines produced today.

D'arenberg The Piceous Lodestar McLaren Vale Shiraz

d'Arenberg's Osborn family are founding members of Australia's First Families of Wine, with the flamboyant Chester Osborn now at the helm. Their iconic 5-level Cube cellar door offers a range of wine experiences including a restaurant and a wine sensory room. This is 2014 release from McLaren Vale's ..."black-red and impenetrable; no shortage of flavour and concentration... a resounding finish. 95pts" Jane Faulkner, The Halliday Wine Companion. Of the name, the d'Arenberg site tells us: "A lodestar is something on which your attention is fixed, and the piceous, pitch black nature of this wine is certain to keep your focus until the bottle is finished."

Veuve Clicquot Vintage Champagne

A blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier sourced from selected Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards with an average of 5 years on lees. A plentiful mousse slowly dissipates to reveal a pale straw coloured base that has pale gold tinged edges. Very persistent and fine bead. Pronounced citrus and yeast lees aromas mingle with baked bread, almond, chalk and subtle toast. Racy and tense the palate is vividly sculptured by crisp acidity with citrus, oily toast and yeast lees characters melding into a dry chalky back drop of oyster shells and minerals. Airy mouth feel finishing long and stimulating. Drink over the next 5-6 years. Alc. 12.5%

Reschke Armenta Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

Blue Pyrenees Estate Richardson Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Kilikanoon Attunga 1865 Shiraz

The grapes for Kilikanoon Attunga were obtained from some of oldest vines in the island country of Australia. The fruit is renowned for its intense flavours and its juice for the tremendous ageing potential. The small, thick-skinned berries were fermented and basket pressed to result in low yielding juice. The ferment was then matured for 27 months in large casks of French oak. This wonderful red wine was bottled unfiltered to preserve the character of the grape.

Leogate Western Slopes Reserve Hunter Valley Shiraz

Leogate Estate was established in 2009 by Bill and Vicki Widin, however, their vines are much older. The winery has maintained a 5 Red Star rating for well over a decade now, and their Western Slope has rarely fallen below 95pts in that same period, such is the impressive consistency of this Reserve Shiraz. The 2017 vintage presented a smaller yield vintage for Hunter reds, which means concentration of flavour has been high. This is well deserving of a place in your cellar. “It puts on a classy display based on a core of cherry-plum flavour though it's also appropriately adorned in smoky, cedary oak. Earth and spice notes strut throughout and the texture is silken. It doesn't put a foot wrong, and it's impressive... 95pts” (Halliday Wine Companion, Campbell Mattinson).

Rockcliffe Nautica Great Southern Cabernet Sauvignon

Heirloom Vineyards A'Lambra Eden Valley Shiraz

This Heirloom Vineyards Eden Valley Shiraz has lifted red fruit signature of Eden Shiraz, but its site also offers some very unique and distinctive aromas of blackberry and intriguing notes of a spice, and the perfume of blueberries. The palate is cool, fresh and light, but persistently fruity and very zingy. The finish is fine, natural and unforced. It's a delicious, confident drink. There is some cream and spice from the French Oak but it's all about the pure fruit.
