Miles From Nowhere Malbec

The nose is a fragrant boquet od blackberry and satsuma plum, a touch of cocoa, cinammon and vanilla. Fruits of the forest and plums, with chocolate and vanilla oak fill the palate.

Parishes Malbec

The Tasting Panel was extremely impressed by this wine. An excellent example of Malbec, with loads of varietal fruit power yet manages to retain a degree of elegance.Dense crimson black saturation. Immense cola and prune with perfect freshness and ripeness. Dense palate richness with cola and blackberry, mouth-filling chocolatey power, and superb tannin richness and depth. A very well made example of the variety.

Macaw Creek Reserve Shiraz Malbec

Very dark colour, complex nose of blackberry/mulberry and plums with a touch of oak spice, palate is rich and full flavoured with blackberry/dark plum fruit softly textured and layered structure with integrated vanillin oak and fine tannins on the finish. An iron fist in a velvet glove style which is well suited to quality grilled beef such as rib eye.

Petaluma Project Co Malbec

A long-standing favourite variety in Bordeaux, malbec does particularly well in Coonawarra. The Petaluma Project Company Malbec is a ripe-fruited, finely structured, spicy dry red with smooth, abundant and rich tannins. The Project Co is Petaluma’s outlet for innovation beyond its core stable of cabernet from Coonawarra, chardonnay from the Adelaide Hills and riesling from the Clare Valley. The range showcases alternative varieties that you might not be so familiar with, and the different production techniques that go along with them. These are limited release wines so don’t wait too long to try them.

Codorniu Raventos Septima Malbec

Colour: Bright ruby red. Nose: Well-defined and persistent. Notes of plums and figs combine with the vanilla notes from oak ageing, making the wine pleasant and subtle. Palate: Sweet and dense on the palate, with an attractive mineral taste. Long and persistent finish, with a delicate flavour of sweet black berries.

Mitolo Jester McLaren Vale Malbec

Lip-smacking, ripe black fruit flavours coat the mouth. Theres a lovely richness to these brightly defined, saturated fruit flavours. Ripe, supple tannins sit in the background and together with the fresh acidity attractively frame the abundant black fruited palate. A clean, fragrant and generously flavoured full bodied red best enjoyed in the full vigour of its youth.

Brown Brothers 1889 Malbec

In the glass this wine is a deep magenta colour with crimson/purple edges. The nose exudes vibrant aromas of violets, spice and ripe berry flavours. The palate has intense dark berries and clove spice. It is a medium bodied wine with good length. This wine is impressive in youth, but will age with grace and poise over the next 3-5 years.
