I love the purity and vitality of Grenache, and my approach in the winery is very much around preserving and promoting varietal character, and ensuring the wine is an honest expression of the region and that particular vineyard. Crafted from two unique McLaren Vale vineyards as our celebration of Grenache - 1947 planted Grenache bush vines growing in deep sand and 1990 planted single-wire trellised vines.Medium deep, dark cherry in colour. Lifting fragrant aromas of strawberry/raspberry jujube, rose petal, lavender, cinnamon and star anise. Flavours of dark cherry, pomegranate and chocolate earth flow through the medium weight palate. Fine tannins and natural acidity focus the fruit into the moreish, savoury finish.

Mrs Wigley was not the wife of Wirra Wirra founder, Robert Strangways Wigley, but in fact a neighbouring cat that took up residence in the winery open top fermenters. The rosé show aromas of fresh strawberry and cherry and a crisp palate of light spice and a lingering dry finish.

All three varieties were sourced from a single vineyard in an area of the Ferguson Valley that is perfect for growing these varieties and which produces fruit rich in flavour with tannins that are fleshy and ripe. The wine displays delicious characteristics of red fruit, cherry and plum with an underlying hint of blueberry and spice. The wine is medium-bodied, with pronounced varietal fruit flavours and a long finish.
