Talisker 10 Year Old Scotch Whisky

Their 10 year old has a powerful peat and sea-salt nose; smoky sweetness with malt flavours and developing warmth with a huge, peppery finish. One of the six classic malts of Scotland, this Whisky is best enjoyed neat or with a slight dash of water.

Edradour Ballechin Straight from the 12 Year Old Sherry Matured Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky ( ) - - NO
Big sherry has become synonymous with the Edradour house style, and we love all of their hugely expressive and quite singular cask strength bottlings. But there’s also an alter ago that has attained a quasi-cult status. When Edradour was bought in 2002, Andrew Symington called on the services of Iain Henderson, the former director of Laphroaig to create a second, very peaty malt. Available since 2006 and employing barley peated at 50ppm - a rate comparable to the smokiest malts of Islay - "Ballechin" was initially sold as a yearly vintage in limited runs of 6000 bottles. There’s now a broader variety available, including private and exclusive bottlings. It's proven itself suited to maturation in a wide range of barrel types, however oloroso is on show in this shipment, and the results are sure to impress. In cask No. 348, peat and sherry detonate making for a deliciously smoky, high-octane experience that kicks off with powerful aromas of cured meats, menthol rub and lanolin, evolving with notes of dark chocolate, raisin cake, dried orange peel and baking spices. Serious oloroso is matched against even more serious phenols in a fabulously dense, creamy attack, oozing peat-reek and powering on with moist fruit cake, ginger and lemon chutney, finishing with maritime salinity, orange zest and port-soaked tobacco. A blast for smoke-heads that's also in the reach of most wallets, if you love Lagavulin or Laphroaig out of sherry, you may like this even more. 957 bottles from an x-Oloroso cask. 58.1% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.

Gordon & Macphail Speymalt from Macallan #1189 Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky
More stocks secured. Twenty year old, cask strength Macallan selling for a song. A second small parcel of all-natural Macallan has come our way at a price that subscribers and collectors should take advantage of. Twenty years old, single cask, cask strength and sourced from one of Scotland's most prestigious independents. Good things have been said about some of these early 2000 G&M Macallans - no doubt partly because the bottler continues a practice of filling and maturing in their own casks rather than buying 'ready made' malts and then finishing them off for a year or two. This way, G&M maintain as much quality control as is possible for an indie. We think this release was destined for the U.S. - regardless, judging by the colour alone, cask 1189 looks to have been very active on the sherry front and has all the hallmarks of a strong distillery expression. Compare it with the large-production official 18 year old (43%), now retailing for around $1300 and the price speaks for itself. Comes with sleek livery and packaging featuring an embossed bottle, minimalist label and presentation box. Presumably non-chill filtered, but not stated on the label. Collectable. Notes from the bottlers... Stewed apples with toffee and zesty orange aromas. The palate is smooth with dark chocolate, toasted hazelnut and subtle liquorice. The spicy finish holds lingering oak.

Talisker Port Ruighe Scotch Whisky
Double matured in port casks, this malt is a toast to the Scottish traders who braved the high seas and were instrumental in founding the port wine trade, shipping it to the world. 'Port Ruighe' (pronounced 'Portree') is the Gaelic spelling of the once bustling trading port on Skye. The Port finish combines Talisker's powerful maritime character with succulent sweet notes of rich berry fruits for a superb contrasting taste experience.
The Glenlivet 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky
This is the “malt” you want to bring home to meet the family. The Glenlivet 15 Year Old French Oak Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky sets the benchmark for 15-year-old Speyside malts, if not the 15-year-old classification worldwide. This 15 year old expression from The Glenlivet, was matured in French Limousin Oak casks. Limousin Oak is a popular choice for maturation of Cognac and delivers a nose which is rich and oaked. On the palate this whisky opens up fudge and Madeira with apple crumble and Calvados. The finish is long and dry with a peppery note. This is a very sophisticated release from The Glenlivet with the Cognac influence being evident.
