Longrow Peated Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Collectors note: Unlike previous editions, this version was released without the original box. This is Springbank's contribution to saving the environment. Springbank's labels almost always arrive with minor wearing and markings, most often to the top of the front labels. This is unavoidable. If you are likely to be disappointed by minor label scuffing, we recommend you don't buy these whiskies. Ever since 1973, a run of twice distilled peated malt has been produced at Springbank (Springbank itself is two and a half times distilled). Named after an earlier distillery in Campbeltown, Longrow's creation was prompted by a whisky shortage. According to Serge Valentin, it shares parallels with Tobermory’s Ledaig and Clynelish’s Brora. All were created because Islay whisky was in short supply after severe droughts in the late 1960s, and because of the temporary closure of Caol Ila. Longrow has always been up there with some of the peatiest whiskies available, having phenol levels matching the likes of Ardbeg. Typically matured in both sherry and bourbon casks, for many whisky lovers, it's also the best non-Islay peated malt on the market - probably because it's not just about smoke. It also retains some of Campeltown's coastal character for added interest. Reviewed in 2020... This NAS edition replaced the Longrow C.V. bottling circa 2013 which contained 6, 10 and 14-year-old whiskies, so expect a similar composition here. Clear bright gold. Initially reticent with light citrus and grassy / farmyard notes developing to choc fudge and sooty peat. Hints of Fisherman's Friend, pipe tobacco and smoked fish in later passes. Full bodied and nicely balanced with a delicious integration of peat-soaked vanilla, peppery malt and coastal freshness. Ends dry, pleasantly spicy and vibrant with suggestions of Fisherman's Friend, kelp and cocoa in the fade. Earthy, coastal and complex. Great stuff. 46% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Johnnie Walker Gold Label The Centenary Blend 18 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky
Note: Product has come from a private collection and as such has some minor scuffing/scratches/handling marks. Actual product pictured. Two variants of Johnnie Walker ' Gold Label ' now co-exist under the ' Reserve' and 'Centenary Blend' labels, with the latter now discontinued, and a rarity on the market. Like other products in the Johnnie Walker range, a degree of confusion surrounds their exact contents. We can tell you that the Centenary blend is a limited release to commemorate the first 100 years of Johnnie Walker. It’s a blend of fifteen different whiskies including Clynelish and Cardhu, aged for a minimum of 18 years. This particular packaging is probably the second generation version from this series. Tasting notes: Bright gold colour. Gentle, sensual aromatics at first yield pristinely clean, buttery grains, then dried grass and dried coconut notes seamlessly lead into more fruity scents. Delicate pear and ripe apple notes emerge, with a sublime smokiness that wafts throughout adding overall depth. A very sexy sniff that pretty much clocks the Scotch Whisky aroma wheel. The palate delivers a powerful, sweet, spicy, gently smoky malt burst with pear and dried apricot emerging on the back palate. Excellent length. Impeccable balance. Long, drying peppermint / honeycomb aftertaste. A fabulous blend packing as much character and power as many a Single malt. 40% Alc./Vol.
Glenmorangie The Quarter Century 25 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Note: Product has come from a private collection and as such has some minor scuffing/scratches/handling marks. Actual product not pictured. Officially discontinued, Glenmorangie 25YO has been replaced by "Glenmorangie Grand Vintage". The first one was the 1990 released in early 2017. Glenmorangie combines the spiciness of the northern Highland malts with the lightness of the lowlands. The gleaming swan-necked copper stills - the tallest in Scotland - play a vital role, allowing only the lightest and purest spirit to make it into the final malt. The distillery remains one of the smallest in the Highlands, employing just sixteen craftsmen - "The sixteen men of Tain". The Quarter Century is a 25 Year Old release, sumptuously packaged in an elegant amphorae style bottle and gold coloured presentation box. Described by Glenmorangie as "Bursting with depth of flavour, dried fruits, blackberries, plums and dates, married with chocolate, coffee and cinnamon spice".

Ardbeg Corryvreckan Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Ardbeg's Corryvreckan replaced the discontinued Airigh Nam Beist . Unusually dry for Ardbeg, otherwise an utterly brilliant, unique expression of Islay. Tasting note: Dull gold colour with pale straw hue. quite an unusual nose for an Ardbeg. Rich chocolate, vanilla, lemon butter and spice above a smoky salty layer, the only evidence that it's Ardbeg is the end note of terracotta/clay/wet charcoal. With time in the glass, fresh smoky characteristics emerge, but do not dominate. The intense palate is initially rich and creamy, quite heavily peated, rich chocolatey flavours mingle harmoniously with the lemon butter before the unusually overt oak grips dry and the peat explodes - softly! The back palate is dry, firm, overtly oaky, and extremely spicy. Excellent balance at cask strength. Warm, tingly, spicy finish. Lemon, dry cocoa, strong spice and gentle smoke dominate the lengthy aftertaste. Austerely dry by Ardbeg standards but one of their best on record. 57.1% Alc./Vol.
Bruichladdich Octomore 13.3 Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distilled in 2016 using 100% Islay barley, harvested in 2015 and peated to a whopping 129.3ppm, 13.3 offers a slight shift on the usual approach which is typically Bourbon only, this time being aged in a combination of first-fill ex-American whiskey casks and second-fill European oak casks from Rivesaltes, France, and Ribero del Duero, Spain. The total maturation was five years. 61.1% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
Glenfiddich Reserva Rum Finish 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
(This whisky has recently been repackaged as a standard 21 Year Old as opposed to its previous incarnation as 'Gran Reserva'). Glenfiddich resurrects the lost tradition of maturing whisky in rum casks with this Glenfiddich 21 Year Old single malt Scotch whisky. Rum distillers from Sancti Spiritus, near the Sierra del Escambray in the heart of Cuba, worked to develop this unique Cuban rum finish. Casks of Cuban rum are decanted at the distillery in Scotland and then filled with 21 Year Old Glenfiddich to absorb the unique character lingering in the wood. The result is the unmistakable Glenfiddich flavour revealed through a new and vibrant overtone.
