The legendary French vodka now comes in a range of flavours. The pear variant is produced with the essence of Anjou pears, cultivated in France, which are also an essential ingredient in classic French pastries and desserts like the tarte aux poires. Cellar Master, François Thibault, focuses on bringing out the natural characteristics of the pear resulting in a complex yet pure expression. 40% Alc./Vol.

APPEARANCE: Infusion blend, carbonated. AROMA: Whole pears, kombu, ginger, cardamom, peppercorn, star anise, black tea, clove, honey, vanilla, olive brine, verjus, filtered water. PALATE: Medium sweet spiced honeyed pear, spritely acidic.

Nose: subtle blend of pear, white peach, honeysuckle and lychee. Palate: gentle and soft mouth feel with medium intensity mid palate tending tropical which reflects the warm growing season. Low sugar, but a fruit- sweet balance point: the acidity is subtle and the wine dry. Expresses a fruit sweetness and generosity throughout the palate, starting out with hints of nectarine, peach and undertones of honey with a clean, dry, yet smooth finish. Winemaker’s Notes: Small parcels of Pinot Gris were fermented separately using a variety of yeasts, with fruit taken from a number of vineyard sites throughout Marlborough. Pressings were fermented in oak and kept separate from the free run which was tank fermented. We assembled the wine with the primary goal of balance given the subtle nature of Pinot Gris and the accentuation of primary clean fruit character, which is typically pears and light citrus. Winemaking Philosophy: all our growers are certified sustainable, with viticulturists bent on an organic and natural approach where possible. Dovetailing that nicely are our winemakers’ low intervention approach to their crafting of the grapes.

This pear and apple blend is soft and alluring: not too sweet, not too dry. The pear cider component is part fermented in chardonnay oak barrels; an apple infusion keeps it fresh and clean. Spicy pear flesh and skin on the nose, with subtle oak notes. Rich pear flavours given extra mouthfeel by partial barrel ageing, nicely balanced by a crunchy apple zip. Lovely on its own, or paired with spicy Asian cuisines.

Nestled alongside the oldest vines on the Bleasdale Estate are three Wild Pear trees that have been there longer than anyone can remember. These old trees have made their home on the natural floodplains of the Bremer River, sharing the benefit of this rich resource with the 1930 block of Verdelho whose grapes go on to make this wine. A crisp, fresh dry wine displaying attractive fruit salad aromas with citrus and tropical flavours.
