One of the few straight varietals in Australia (Petit Verdot is usually blended with other Bordeaux varieties), the nose displays violets, briary blackberry and a hint of cedar. The palate reveals concentrated spicy plum, cherry and mulberry flavours. Will cellar well.

This full-bodied Malbec has a bouquet of black ripe fruits, blackcurrant, juniper, blueberry, pepper and cassis complemented with hints of toasted almond and cigar box from French oak. The balanced palate with ripe oak tannins delivers dark chocolate, mint, black currants and cassis. Enjoy now or will reward with cellaring.

Pirramimma Shiraz is full-fruited and powerful, with sweet plum and mocha along with cinnamon notes and dark chocolate which are all typical regional characters of McLaren Vale.

Who doesn’t love a little bit of low-yielding, full-bodied, South Australian cabernet? We know we do. Sourced from Pirramimma’s old cabernet vineyards in McLaren Vale, luscious blackberry, blueberry, mint and capsicum notes hum alongside cedar and toasted almond notes from time in oak. Secondary characters of black olive, tobacco and rosemary are starting to poke through as well. No need to rush though as this has another decade plus of development left in the bottle. For now or for the future, the choice is yours.

Pirramimma Stock's Hill Shiraz has bright cherry aromas with sweet oak and a hint of spice give this wine real appeal on the nose. The palate is rich with flavours of blackberry and chocolate balanced by grippy tannins. Great value!

This superb wine offers some really good times indeed. Good times in the form of bold fruit, exotic spice and a velvety texture. If you like deep, complex reds that unfold in the glass and do well after an hour in a decanter - this is one for you. Shiraz brings spicy mulberry, fruit cake and pomegranate, and tempranillo really brings this wine together with cherry and a long fresh finish. There is a hint of oak which sits along with other more savoury notes of pepper and fresh rosemary. Let the good times roll.

Here’s another vintage of this absolutely divine wine. Pirramimma are a fave of many (many, many) a ‘mofo, this time delivering their all-Aussie blend of cabernet and shiraz. From three of their best vineyards, including Ironstone, and some vines planted back in the 1950s, this wine shows off arguable the best vines of the region. A fine balance of the sweeter fine-tuned cassis of cabernet, with the plummy, blueberry and black cherry savoury notes of juicy shiraz. Geoff Johnston, an absolute icon of McLaren Vale. To know his name is to know the region, thanks to the devotion of talented and hard working wine growers, a collective who single-handedly put this unassuming beachside region on a global stage. In honour of his 50th vintage, this wine speaks to Geoff’s character: determined, endearing, and engaging. Geoff planted shiraz with his old man ‘Digby’ back in 1971, and today, this block of vines shows so much character reminiscent of time and place. Shiraz like this is knee-weakeningly good. Upfront dark fruits; plums and blackberries, carried along with mocha tones before reaching peaks of vanilla and spice (and all things nice).
