Secondary characters of black olive, tobacco and rosemary are starting to poke through as well. No need to rush though as this has another decade plus of development left in the bottle. Here’s another vintage of this absolutely divine wine. Pirramimma are a fave of many (many, many) a ‘mofo, this time delivering their all-Aussie blend of cabernet and shiraz. From three of their best vineyards, including Ironstone, and some vines planted back in the 1950s, this wine shows off arguable the best vines of the region. A fine balance of the sweeter fine-tuned cassis of cabernet, with the plummy, blueberry and black cherry savoury notes of juicy shiraz.
