Introducing 65F by NIGO. The iconic Penfolds chimney, re-imagined by NIGO. Inspired by the metal chimney which towers 65 feet over Penfolds Magill Estate Winery, NIGO revived material from our archive to inspire the design. Included in the gift box is a wine tag with a chalk pencil, taking inspiration from the chalk boards in the original working winery at Magill, and a chimney smoke wine stopper as a playful nod to the original purpose of the Magill estate chimney.
Penfolds 65F By NIGO Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz Gift Box 2021
The Bin 389 style evolved as a result of experiments, by Max Schubert, in the 1950s to develop a highly individual wine using a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz with compatible oak treatment. Bin 389 combines the elegance of Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness of Shiraz and demonstrates the traditional Penfolds' trademark - balance between fruit and oak, giving the wine character and longevity.
Penfolds Maxs Chardonnay is a tribute to former Chief Winemaker Max Schubert, a legend in Penfolds history. Pale straw in colour with green hues, this wine has a very nice textural and creamy palate with a soft line of acid fading ever so slowly to a distant palate horizon.
Penfolds Maxs Cabernet Sauvignon is a regional blend that gives the wine a fuller more intense mouthfeel. It has rich blackcurrant and toffee-apple like aromas on the nose, followed by dense savoury varietal fruits on the palate. Tannins are firm with subtle oaks leading to a long finish.
Introducing the Penfolds 2018 Collection. A family of fine wines, each with a distinct character, quality and provenance. A testament to the enduring House Style and winemaking philosophy that Penfolds has proudly upheld since 1844. Bin 150 Shiraz is a sub-regional expression that is unmistakably Penfolds in character. Standing on its own two feet, this release delivers a contemporary Shiraz alternative, framed by a mix of oaks; French and American, old and new - crafted in accordance with the traditional Penfolds method.
Penfolds Maxs Pinot Noir is a tribute to former Chief Winemaker Max Schubert 1948 - 1975, a legend in Penfolds history. Enticing aromatics, with exotic fruits of the forest leaping from the glass. Raspberry, black cherry, olive tapenade and oolong tea are framed by a subtle char-toast character. Hints of sea spray and a distinct Campari note linger.
Since the early 90's, Penfolds have been producing Chardonnay from the cool climate region of Tumbarumba. The Chardonnay is elegant with white florals, stone fruits and a great acidity structure. Maturation in French Oak gives the Bin 311 a subtle nutty savoury flavour through and through. A great all season wine for all sorts of occasions.
A showcase of warm-climate Australian shiraz - full-bodied, rich and abundant aromatics. Explore mocha, chocolate, espresso notes in this new vintage release. Aromas: The aromatic spectrum presents an array of scents that point to varietal origin. The nose is distinguished by a subtle formic character, closely followed by savoury notes of blood pudding, aniseed/fennel and black liquorice. A hint of milk chocolate adds a soft, sweet touch to the predominantly dark fruit profile, where red, blue, and black fruits are all present. Ground cinnamon, toasted fennel seeds, clove, mace and sumac contribute to an overall impression of liveliness. Palate: The palate texture is suggestive of cocoa powder while being framed by just enough savoury oak to add structure without dominating. Leading with black fruit characters, it progresses with dark plum and hints of gamey richness (roasted venison). Baking spice notes and a delicate icing sugar dusting add nuance without tipping into overt sweetness. Lively acidity carries through from start to finish, perfectly accompanied by fine structural tannins that contribute to an enduring balance. Despite its depth and layers, it carries itself with typical Bin 28 ease; its complexity is apparent yet approachable. Peak Drinking: 2024 - 2045. Awards: • 96 Points - Andrew Caillard MW • 95 Points - Ken Gargett • 95 Points - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion • 95 Points - Ray Jordan • 17.5/20 Points - Jancis Robinson.
