Winton Road Single Vineyard Shiraz

A lovely deep colour with aromas of lavender, violet, blackberries and a savoury, game quality. The palate balances a rich core with vibrant acidity which gives both power and precision to the mouthfeel. The tannins are gentle and ashen, and the black fruits, warm pepper and delicate barrel spice are all present throughout the long and elegant finish of the wine. The fruit for the Single Vineyard Shiraz comes from the Marananga vineyard located halfway between the townships of Tanunda and Greenock. The vines range in age from fifteen to one hundred and twenty-six years old. The Marananga soils are predominantly red-yellow loams over red clay, which produce powerful, yet precise wines. Ageing takes place in French oak barriques for fifteen months with twenty-five percent of the oak being used for the first time.

Langmeil Hallowed Ground Shiraz

Torbreck The Struie Red

A tried and true expression of ripe and generously flavoured shiraz that lets the fruit do the talking rather than excessive oak or alcohol. Traditionally a blend of Barossa and Eden Valley estate grown fruit, there's so much to like here ; delicately scented spice, earth and licorice complexities intertwine with layers of supple, mouth filling blue and black fruits. Savoury, long and fine, quality French oak imparts gentle cedar notes to complete the picture. 'A blend of Barossa and Eden Valleys. An extremely powerful and complex wine, with a major question hanging over its head in the form of tis alcohol; there is an ocean of black fruits, but the alcohol warmth is a take it or leave it issue.' (2012 Vintage) - 94 Points. - James Halliday - Published on 26 Jul 2014.
