DML Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir

The site where we source fruit for this wine is in a slightly warmer part of the Peninsula, well suited to cooler seasons such as 2020. This wine shows denser, darker fruits than that of its Yarra counterpart. On the nose there is stewed plums, cherries, roasted beetroot and spice all contributing to the aromatic complexity. The palate again shows an array of blue fruits, licorice and well integrated oak flavours giving a hint of sweetness. The acid/tannin combination gives this wine exceptional crunch and energy through the mid palate.

Oakridge LVS Henk Pinot Noir

The Vineyard Series matches particular varieties with specific sites to gi ve you outstanding examples of single v ineyard wines. This wine was sourced from the north-facing Henk Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Woori Yallock. A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine 80% whole berr y fermentation with 20% whole bunch inclusion in open vessels for two weeks followed by a 10 month maturation in French oak barrels. Deep crimson red with a garnet hue in appearance. Strong berry fruited aromatics leap from the glass, wild strawberry and red currant transcends to dark cherry and pomegranate. The palate is medium bodied with a dense and powerful core of red fruit that flows along a soft line of acidity . Well handled soft and velvety tannins are layered within the fruit . Complimentary notes of brown spice and earth add another dimension. Powerful, long and vibrant.

Soumah Single Vineyard Yarra Valley Upper Ngumby Pinot Noir

Oakridge Henk Pinot Noir

A vintage defined by cool, wet conditions, low crops and harvesting late into autumn. The resulting wines have great depth of flavour and vibrant, balanced acidities. A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine - whole berry bunch fermentation in open vessels for two weeks followed by a 10 month maturation in French oak.

Bress Range Pinot Noir

The wine is tightly packed full of black fruit, spice, cloves, and liquorice. The grape tannins are soft and are beautifully integrated into the wine, giving the wine structure and adding power, balance and a savoury richness. Adam Marks established Bress in 2001 with a desire to produce wines with fruit sourced from notable regions and minimal intervention.“We believe certain grape-growing regions are better suited to particular grape varieties than others,” says winemaker Adam Marks. “The French have understood this for several centuries and some Australian wine producers are now embracing this belief.” Bress, located in Harcourt near Bendigo, Victoria, is one such producer. Adam doesn’t restrict himself to sourcing grapes from one specific region; he’d rather make the most of the diversity of climates and soils central Victoria has to offer and looks to the Yarra Valley, Macedon Ranges, Bendigo and Heathcote for the best quality fruit.

Glen Garvald Pinot Noir

This block of D2V5 clone has long proven an integral component of our Estate Pinot Noir blend, consistently contributing a light touch of prettiness, perfume and poise to marry with the routinely more robust elements provided by our MV6 clonal blocks. As an extension of our explorations into the possibilities of future ‘fits’ for our vineyard plantings in the face of the steadily evolving and warming climate, we are also delving into the world of clonal variation in Pinot Noir. Trial and subsequent selection of suitable clones beyond the omnipresent and, so far, unsurpassed Yarra Valley ‘workhorse’ MV6 clone may well throw a lifeline in extending the ongoing viability of this noble variety on the Valley floor. As a first step in this process, we chose to feature the north facing D2V5 clone as a singular wine. This wine walks a tense line between savoury and sweet-fruited characters. It bears a brightness of colour with an intensity of varietal fruit. Aromas of black cherry and char, rose petals and baked clay abound, with darker elements of clove, nutmeg, coffee and damp earth. The palate features flavours of sarsaparilla, Aleppo pepper, and porcini mushroom powder. Miso and cocoa nib surf a subliminal stemmy note. Clonal particularity accentuated by a soft guiding hand in the winemaking delivers a promising steppingstone in a future represent for this clone in our closely entwined Yarra Valley floor climatic and clonal future.
