Munda Syrah Kaurna Country Blewitt Springs (McLaren Vale) Syrah Munda chooses minimal intervention in the winery, second and third use oak regimes to showcase Munda, and prefers to bottle relatively early to reflect the brightness of their wines. Sourced from grapes grown on Kaurna Country, this Syrah is handpicked, partially destemmed and fermented in wild yeast for 10 days to extract the optimal flavour. Vibrant fruit combines with notes of red flowers, cacao and layers of cooking spice. A medium to full-bodied wine, the Syrah expresses cherry, blueberry, and plum on the palate with the quintessential biscuity tannins of Blewitt Spring lingering on the long finish.

Re-tasted on 07/06/2022 Magnificent colour displaying a pitch black core with a very deep black dark red hue. Pronounced black cherry, liquorice and black plum aromas are overlaid by scorched earth and smoked meats followed by spicy vanillin cedar and pepper notes. Tightly built rich black cherry and liquorice flavours dominate over inky earth, lightly scorched vanillin cedar, dried meats and blackpepper. Dry grippy finish with tightly grained tannins. Rich yet elegant and muscular in its feel. Good underlying power with a long black cherry, liquorice, smoky vanillin cedar, dried meats and earthy pepper aftertaste. Cellar 8-10 years. Alc. 14.5%

Positioned at about 120m above sea level and 8kms inland this North/ South facing vineyard is in the heart of McLaren Vale. We pride ourselves in sustainable viticulture practices and having true respect for the value of our vineyards and the fruit they create. Monitoring and measuring the vines is a crucial part of maintaining fruit quality of this level with a key focus being on the soil health and how this impacts the vine, the fruit and in turn the wine and the experience. The fruit for this wine is picked a little earlier to ensure a slightly lower alcohol level. Winery In the winery The Descendant of Squid Ink Shiraz fruit is treated with utmost respect, ensuring quality from start to finish. With a 2 day cold soak prior to a slow cool fermentation for gentle extraction colour, flavour and tannin extraction are closely monitored with different fermentation cap management applied accordingly. Following fermentation, the wine is then matured in a special selection of the finest 4 year old seasoned American oak Hogshead (300L) oak barrels for 9 months. Maturation 9 Months in well-seasoned 4 year old American Oak, Hogshead (300L) oak barrels. Colour Deep red with vibrant purple hues. Nose Deep dark fruits with some black olive, earthy complexity entice the senses followed by complementing dusty oak characters. Palate Fresh vibrant fruit coats the mouth, complimenting the gentle, soft furry tannins and spice that line the mouth and leave a lasting impression. Cellaring Drink now or cellar for 7+ years.
