The initials RWT stand for Red Winemaking Trial, the name given to the project internally by Penfolds when developmental work began in 1995. No longer a trial, RWT Shiraz was launched in 2000. Its style is opulent and fleshy, made from fruit primarily selected for its aromatic qualities and plush texture. This Heirloom Vineyards Eden Valley Shiraz has lifted red fruit signature of Eden Shiraz, but its site also offers some very unique and distinctive aromas of blackberry and intriguing notes of a spice, and the perfume of blueberries. The palate is cool, fresh and light, but persistently fruity and very zingy. The finish is fine, natural and unforced. It's a delicious, confident drink. There is some cream and spice from the French Oak but it's all about the pure fruit.

The 2018 Don Shiraz was our first release as new owners of the vineyard.Fruit was handpicked to enhance best quality and this particular season was outstanding.After natural fermentation of 2 weeks the wine was pressed off skins and then rack to (25% new) French and American barriques for the next 15 months.The wine displays a lovely deep purple crimson colour, ripe blueberries and spices, a touch of black pepper and is rounded out by generous palate flavours.Cellaring and decanting will further enhance this wine.A special wine that is drinking superbly now or save for that special occasion.

With an average vine age of 66 years, Vat 9 2016 is a blend of the 1892 8 Acres block, 1968 Contour block, and 1968 Weinkellar east block. All these blocks are dry grown and feature similar soil types, red volcanic clay over limestone, which is ideal for super premium Hunter Valley Shiraz
