Old Kempton Distillery 10th Anniversary Release Single Malt Whisky

Ten years marks a significant period in the development of Old Kempton Distillery. Along with Lyn Lark, James Reid and Amelia Hope, we started what was going to be a small craft distillery. Over time, the distillery attracted a few passionate friends who shared our vision. They were welcomed into our family bringing expertise and enthusiasm guiding OKD to what it is today. We are also fortunate to have a wonderful support team to facilitate OKD’s commitment to becoming a true artisan distillery. On behalf of OKD, I thank you for your support and making the future look bright. We look forward to welcoming you to the distillery and being able to share more of our amazing Tasmanian spirits. Cheers for now, Bill Lark – Co Founder OKD Tasting Notes by Rob Tyson, Head Distiller. Aroma: A rich and ever developing aroma with dried fruits (raisins and sultanas), tinned pears, coffee with dark chocolate, orange peel, rich malt, and toasted almonds. Palate: Rich oil, and creamy across the palate with a good balance of both sweet and dry elements (ANZAC biscuits, Seville orange, and oak). Finish: Great mouthfeel with good spread and balance (Gingernut biscuit with spice and toffee). This release marries together spirit distilled at both our original site at Redlands Estate and at our new home at Dysart House, Kempton. Whist our location has changed, the delicate fruit and malt driven spirit that we produce has been consistent across our sites and is central to the style of whisky we produce.

The Kurayoshi 18 Year Old Pure Malt Japanese Whisky

Jim Murray's Japanese Whisky of the Year for 2022. The small-scale craft (or Ji) whiskies from Kurayoshi have been impressive. Blenders here often combine malt whisky from Scotland with locally produced whisky. This is not an uncommon practice in Japan, and the exact breakdown typically remains undisclosed. There have been several strong reviews for the 18 YO (see below). One can't help noticing the similarity in packaging to Suntory's Yamazaki 18...

Johnnie Walker Sydney City Limited Edition Whisky

We are reflecting on our own 200-year journey to this point and gazing ahead to the next 200 years by launching a collection that reimagines how a selection of the worlds leading cities will look two centuries in the future. This glimpse into the year 2220 will bring us into a futuristic space where well known cityscapes and landmarks appear alongside incredible feats of geo-engineering, A.I empowerment and physics defying architecture. On pack NFC technology will enable consumers to experience these futuristic vistas in delightful and unexpected ways. Sydney’s unique design was created in collaboration with London-based digital artist and creative powerhouse Luke Halls. Luke Halls’ illustration of 23rd century Sydney embodies the theme of geo-engineered cities, envisioning the city as an explosion of tropical and exotic plant cultivation that has created stunning floating garden islands in the harbour – gigantic exotic plants and trees provide both an unmissable tourist attraction and act as the lungs of the city, keeping its air clean and pure. Its skyline of familiar and new architecture is a green oasis with living walls and rooftop gardens. A truly clean city, all of Sydney’s power comes from a combination of hydro and solar energy capture. As ever, the harbour and surrounding waters are filled with water taxis and hyper light sailing boats which dart through the waves. 1

The Macallan Harmony Collection Smooth Arabica Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Note: Product has come from a private collection and as such has some minor scuffing/scratches/handling marks. Actual product not shown. Following on from the duo of Rich Cacao and Fine Cacao comes the second instalment in Macallan's limited annual series. 'Intense Arabica' and 'Smooth Arabica' are said to be influenced by the Ethiopian Arabica coffee bean. Both special malts exude flavours of sweet oak, tiramisu and dark chocolate and reportedly provide a delightful whisky and coffee pairing experience. The story goes that Chief Whisky Maker, Steven Bremner wanted to create an expression that would pair perfectly with an espresso, so he worked with a group of caffeinated experts including Ethiopian grower Kenean Asefa Dukamo, Scottish roaster Lisa Lawson and acclaimed American barista Andrea Allen. “Exploring the world of coffee with our masters in the industry, who shared their knowledge, creativity, and love for their art, was both an education and an inspiration,” says Bremner. “There are many parallels between the approach to creating incomparable whisky and coffee. Each requires unique skills and craftsmanship to achieve depth and complexity of taste and both worlds aim to deliver an extraordinary consumption experience.” Each whisky was aged in a combination of American and European oak casks but have different accents. As the name suggests, Smooth Arabica brings a creamy, silky character to Macallans malt, retaining the dark spice and heavy fruit we've come to expect. Also one for the collectors to complete the set. Drawing inspiration from a connection to the natural world, the distinctive packaging incorporates organic by-products and gives them new life. These are made partially from repurposed coffee bean husks, created by Italian paper mill, Favini. Very limited stocks.

Little information can be found on these highly decorative Nikkas, however we speculate Nikka began production of these bottlings in the late 1970s, consistent with the trend of the time for 'novelty' bottle shapes. Production has continued to this day with Nikka supplying this edition only to the Japanese Duty Free market.
