Black Barrel is a unique small-batch, hand-crafted rum created to commemorate the 310th year anniversary of Mount Gay. Like all their rums, double-pot and single column distillates are aged separately in whiskey barrels until they reach maturity. The Master Blender then mixes a higher proportion of double distillates to create this special blend. Aged again in deeply charred bourbon barrels (hence the name), adding a rich complexity and a warm, smooth finish.

Tasting note: Amber gold. Gently warming aromas of vanilla wafer, crème caramel, pineapple pudding and honey with a delicate lift, following through to a light to medium bodied, cream-textured rum suggesting flavours of caramelised fruits, tea biscuits, gentle spice and trace molasses to finish. Dividing the ageing process into two different stages makes Dos Maderas 5+3 a unique aged rum. This rum is first aged for 5 years in American oak casks at its place of origin in the Caribbean (Guyana and Barbados). Then it is shipped to Williams & Humberts installations in Jerez (Spain), where it is aged for another 3 years in casks that have previously held the internationally renowned Dos Cortados palo cortado sherry (aged for 20 years, as certified by the Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Regulatory Council). This two-stage process produces old rum of unique characteristics, offering toasted aromas with hints of vanilla and nut. Serve it neat or with a few ice-cubes or as the main ingredient in select cocktails.
