Our tequila’s journey starts with the work of skilled jimadores, agave farmers local to the Tequila region. They identify agaves located in the Los Valles region of Tequila, finding optimal conditions for 818 by waiting for at least 7 years for the agaves to reach peak maturity. Taste: Sweet agave and vanilla, with undertones of tropical and citrus fruit. Body & Colour: Brilliant platinum, light body. Aromas: Lemongrass, mild floral elements, chamomile and light minerality. In 1999, Guillermo Erickson Sauza decided to bring back the old Sauza family distillery to life. Today he produces Tequila Fortaleza there using 100% stone-milled agave, entirely produced on the estate which lies right in the middle of the town of Tequila. Fortaleza Reposado Tequila is rested for 8 months. It has an amazingly soft texture with a vegetal sweetness balanced against soft and sweet vanilla notes from the ex-bourbon barrels in which it is rested.

A testament to Don Julios patience and determination for superior quality, Tequila Don Julio Añejo is the culmination of distinct rich flavours of agave balanced with the perfect amount of wood influence. Don Julio Añejo spends more than the minimum requirement of 1 year on oak, and is normally aged between 18 months and two years before it reaches its optimum age and taste profile. As with the rest of the Don Julio range the nose is fruity and floral, but with notes of vanilla and fresh agave, whilst the palate is slightly richer and more full bodied, yet still sweet and rich with citrus characteristics.

The Tequila is then aged for five months in used bourbon barrels to give it a complex flavour and delicate aroma. Aromas of vanilla custard, citrus and almonds lead to a hint of liquorice, fruity agave and toasted banana bread, the perfect mix of citrus and toasted oak.
