Chairman's Reserve 6th Edition
Cast your mind back to 1931 and you may remember that it was the year that the Dennery distillery merged with another distillery in St. Lucia to form St. Lucia Distillers (it was the same year that the Empire State Building was completed - in case you need your memory jogged). To celebrate the occasion, St. Lucia Distillers created their 1931 series, and this is the sixth release of excellent St. Lucian rum in the rage.
Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé Champagne
Dom Pérignon Brut Vintage
Dom Pérignon is the most famous Champagne in the world, and for good reason. The bouquet sparkles with delicate fresh violets in a setting of white peaches. The soft delicate flavours continue while the senses are tickled by the most delicate of fine bubbles. Though this is such a fine delicate wine, the complexity is astounding, along with its length. Stunning.
Krug Grand Cuvee Non-Vintage Champagne
A list of superlatives can't describe Krug. One of the great wine experiences in the world. It is an exercise in balance and poise, being at once as fine and delicate as crystal and rich with meaty nuttiness. With an almost fragile bead, there is plenty of toast, dried fruit and hazelnut complexity. Superb!
Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque Vintage
Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque is one of the world's truly great elegant Champagnes. Named after the 'golden age' in France during the late 19th century, Belle Époque is still today bottled in the striking hand-painted bottle that is instantly recognisable the world over. A 50% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir and 5% Pinot Meunier, the strength of this prestige cuvée is in its finesse and elegance rather than power or fruit. Adding to this spectacular Champagne's aura of grace and class was the fact that is was personally chosen to be the Champagne poured at the Monaco wedding of HRH Prince Albert II of Monaco and Princess Charlene.
Trimbach Cuvee Frederic Emile Riesling
TRIMBACH Cuvee Frederic Emile Riesling, Ribeauville
Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux
The wine comes with the tag of ''second wine'' from the esteemed Chateau Margaux, though it''s made with the intent to stand on its own two feet. The blend tends to sit around two thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and one third Merlot, but a seasoning of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc is essential for the fine detail of perfume and flavours expected from this wine. 2010 sees a wine of grace and purity - it''s fruit dominant and supple, fleshy and ample, cuddly and almost nourishing to drink. A wine for admiring and comparing to its great parent too.
