Petaluma White Label Pinot Gris
Petaluma have access to some of South Australia's premier vineyard sites which are put to impressive use here with their White Label Pinot Gris. 100% sourced from the Adelaide Hills, yet four vineyards are used to create this delicious white; two in the Piccadilly Valley, one near Balhannah and one near Lenswood. Only the very best fruit was selected and left to ferment in older French barriques, the resulting wine has a classic cool-climate backbone with racy acidity and depth of flavour on the palate.
Paringa Estate Pinot Gris
The bouquet for this Paringa Estate Pinot Gris has lifted varietal fragrance of fresh cut pear with hints of lychee and mandarin. The palate has fresh pear and citrus fruit flavours combined with lovely mid palate texture and balance, finishing with cleansing acidity.
Swanson Vinyard Pinot Grigio
Aromas of freshly cut hay and slight hints of guava lead into more subtle notes of pear. On the palate, the wine is balanced with perfect natural acidity that reveals the refreshing yet subtle flavors of litchi and green apple. This wine reflects the ripe, succulent Pinot Grigio flavors that the grapes show on the vine. Enjoy as an aperitif or pair with almost any seafood or light pasta dish. Our Pinot Grigio comes from the rolling Piacine hills of San Benito AVA, where the well drained limestone soils pair well with a moderated climate and precision viticulture. The valleys in this region help channel cool air from the cold Pacific Ocean only 20 or 30 miles away from the vineyard, thus reducing day and night time temperatures. Well suited to Pinot Grigio, the region is often cooler than many parts of the Napa Valley, yet receives the same amount of sunlight, preserving the bright acidity and developing the expressive aromatics of the grape. After the dramatic end to the 2017 vintage the 2018 vintage was a return to normal, although a normal we've not seen in years. Mild conditions throughout flowering meant fruit set was extended and successful, ultimately leading to high yields slowing down ripening. The hot temperatures in July and August relented from September onward. There were no late season heat spikes or serious harvest rain events which meant the hang time of the grapes could be extended. The result was naturally balanced wines, lower in alcohol that retained good amounts of natural acidity. This was one of the longest harvests we've seen since 2011, starting on the 31st of August and ending on the 5th of November and can be summed up as a "Classic" vintage. Definitely one to follow closely.
Te Whare Ra Pinot Gris
Anna and Jason Flowerday run the Te Whare Ra vineyard in Marlborough according to organic and bio-dynamic practices. The fruit is picked and sorted by hand, then processed in a winery especially designed for small-batch wine-making. This dry Pinot Gris is finely structured with great purity and length of flavour. Lifted aromas of nashi pear, raspberry, red apple and white florals follow on to the palate, where they're balanced by a fine, supple texture and lingering minerality.
Contentious Character Pinot Gris
All the hallmarks of classic cool climate Pinto Gris, but blessed with the nuances of fruit character, brought out by the Aussie sun, and lightly oaked.
