Dinastía Manzanos Reserva
Quarry Hill Tempranillo
Occupying some of the more elevated land in the Canberra District, Quarry Hill's climate is well-suited to produce one of the great red grapes of the world, tempranillo. Taking a cue from Spanish joven styles of young & fresh tempranillo, Quarry Hill's expression is fresh and bright-fruited, but guided in by the chewy skin tannin characteristic of the grape variety. The versatility of the wine means its not just for tapas or other Spanish foods, it also goes great with any grilled dishes or roast pork.
Glorioso Crianza Rioja
A very enticing nose of sweet berries, a hint of leather and freshly ground coffee. This is 100% Tempranillo and great value for genuine, honest Rioja. There's spades of earthiness and fresh herbs alongside cedary notes from toasty barrels. Medium bodied, this shows a modern take with vibrant fruit and less oak than the Riojas of the past.
Artadi Vina El Pison, Rioja
The 2 ha El Pison vineyard was planted in 1945 on a gentle sloping site in the shape of an amphitheatre with deep sub-soils. Made entirely from Tempranillo, El Pison is a very rich and intense age-worthy style typically showing great purity of fruit and abundant chalky tannins that benefit from additional cellaring.
Capital Wines The Ambassador Tempranillo
This exciting Spanish black grape shows hints of red spicy berries, liquorice, raspberries and cherry, with good fleshy finish.
Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Rioja
Castillo Ygay Tempranillo from the famed Rioja region in Spain was one of the stars of the show at the recent Dan Murphy's Wines of the World Expo! Complex roasted chestnut/mocha/dark berry/leather fruit with superb richness, underlying savoury nuances and ripe chocolaty tannins. Although matured for 31 months in American oak, the oak and fruit integration is sublime.
La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva 904, Rioja
Marques De Tezona Tempranillo
Gemtree Luna Roja Tempranillo
After seven vintages working with Spanish Tempranillo, the Gemtree team at McLaren Vale is clearly mastering the art and Luna Roja is just about as good as it gets in Australia. Gorgeous plum, berry, licorice and fruitcake characters, fine, soft, gentle tannins and a long, savoury finish. 'Tempranillo from one of McLaren Vale's best producers. This is soft and cuddly with plenty of fruit to the fore. Low in oak, high in accessibility. It tastes of liquorice and aniseed, five spice and dark earth. Freshness is a key aspect of an attractive pitch.' - The Wine Front: Campbell Mattinson July 2015. Reviews/ Awards: 90 points, Huon Hooke 2015 90 points, James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2016. Gold at International Organic Wine Award 2015.
Innocent Bystander Tempranillo
