This is a celebration of The Stubborn Few - A minority who, threw caution to the wind and forged the way for modern Australian wine making. One of them, a South Australian, defied preconceptions and invented wine cask, breaking the rules just to keep his wine fresh. A box makes perfect sense. Its airtight, economical and environmentally friendly. The Stubborn Few Rose is bright and displays fruity flavours of fresh strawberries and pink grapefruit. Filled with vibrant aromas of white peach and nectarine, with hints of lemon citrus. Lite and refreshing palate of crisp lemon flavours and honeydew melon, accompanied by hints of vanilla, finishing with a lingering acid drive. The perfect accompaniment to antipasto with soft cheese, or try a fresh seafood platter.

John Quarisa, aka Johnny Q, is a terrific winemaker, creating wines that, like him, can be lively and highly charged. In his Caravan wine series, he likes to think of a grape that changes in style as it travels. So that here, Sauvignon Blanc grown in his Riverina vineyards produces a wine still with loads of grassy fresh zip, but along the way, has developed more tropical fruit flavours too. That is peach, pineapple and passionfruit! He insists on night harvested grapes to ensure lots of bright fresh flavours and cool ferments them for the same reason. This wine previously won a Gold medal and we think the 2021 vintage is tasting just as good – it's a fridge-door-must! Chill down and enjoy as a glass on its own or with spicy Thai dishes.

Crisp apple and fresh pear bounce around in this easy-drinking Pinot Grigio that's a palate-full of flavour. A refreshing addition to afternoon drinks or maybe enjoy it with a chicken pesto salad.

With 130 years of expertise under the family’s belt, Angove have plenty of experience to call upon. In recent years they have been awarded ‘Winery of the Year’ and many medals besides for individual wines. Fourth generation John Angove now heads up the cellar that Dr William Angove started in 1886 near Adelaide (by making award winning brandy – a product they’re still famous for) and, besides championing unusual grapes, John also pioneers modern styles of wine. His 2018 turns its back on the weighty, golden, heavily oaked Chardonnays of last century and embraces bright stone fruit, shot through by lemony brilliance. No wonder this grape is back in favour.

This gorgeously refreshing white is made by the talented John Quarisa, who – aside from winning a coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy – has enjoyed a “distinguished career as a winemaker spanning over 20 years” (Halliday). John likes his wines to express big personality, juicy fruit and value for money. They also have a magic knack of winning Gold – often several times over! Mouthwateringly fresh and bursting with citrus. Lemon and lime run across the palate, with subtle green apple hints. This Gold winner would happily pair with a platter of fresh prawns.
