Shirl the Pearl 2020 Harvest, a seasonal edition Cumquat Gin with fresh uplifting notes, zesty characteristics, and a long finish. Expect refreshing waves of orange blossom. Eddie’s grandmother Shirley aka ‘Shirl the Pearl’ was a pocket rocket. Adventurer, skier, and one of Australia’s first female pilots, Shirl also made a mean bootleg Cumquat Gin. Inspired by Shirl, we steep locally grown Cumquats in our Brookie’s Dry Gin for several months and balance the spirit to create springtime in a glass! This is her recipe and an ode to Shirl the Pearl.

A Unique, herbed and buttered Gin produced in small 200L batches in the urban Darling Distillery. Layers of bright citrus from fragrant orange, mandarin and native myrtle melt into the warmth of Tasmanian pepperberry and the heady spice of coriander and lemongrass. Earth undertones of fresh picked rosemary and green tea are rounded by lashings of rooftop honey and the textural finish of freshly churned butter.

Distilled using carefully selected native and local botanicals alongside organic Macedonian juniper berries, this easy sipping gin offers clean citrus notes with spicy finish. Native pepper berries and liquorice root give this gin earthy undertones, balanced with fresh notes of native ginger and lemongrass.
