Bekkers Syrah Grenache McLaren Vale The Syrah is sourced from red clay-loam over siltstone rock in Clarendon (which they now own) and Grenache from sand over orange sandy-clay in the much vaunted Blewitt Springs. Picked by hand, vinified with 15-30% whole bunches and cold soaked for 5-6 days before natural fermentation and basket pressed to aged French oak 500L puncheons. Deep inky purple with a nose of lavender, violets, blueberry, blackberry, Indian spices and a palate of leafy blackcurrant and a long, soft, silky texture.

Aromas of raspberry, red rose petal perfume, forest floor. The palate shows summer berry fruits, wild herbs, lively mouth feel with light sandy tannins. Raspberry chocolate bullets, black tea leaves and gutsy earthiness to finish, pleasant after grip and a sweet trickle of fruit on the back palate.

Bekkers Grenache McLaren Vale Sourced from three distinct vineyards of varying personality owning to rocky outcrops to ancient beach sands. Picked by hand, the fruit is vinified with 20% whole bunches and cold soaked for 5-6 days before natural fermentation and being basket pressed to aged French oak 500L puncheons. First released in 1993, this wine was renamed d'Arry's Original in honour of third generation family member Francis d'Arenberg Osborn, universally known as d'Arry.Medium garnet with a brick hue. Spice, crushed leaf and blood plum. Brooding and intense, with a fragrant entry of subtle florals and ripe dark fruit, and lovely acidity maintaining shape and structure. Generous, long and flavoursome.

Some would say McLaren Vale is the spiritual home of Australian Grenache. We are not about to start arguing when Grenache like this one from Chapel Hill are produced. Generous rich red fruits with smattering of dried herbs and a fleshy mid-palate. There is real concentration and complexity to this wine.

Crafted from two unique McLaren Vale vineyards as our celebration of Grenache - 1947 planted Grenache bush vines growing in deep sand and 1990 planted single-wire trellised vines.Medium deep, dark cherry in colour. Lifting fragrant aromas of strawberry/raspberry jujube, rose petal, lavender, cinnamon and star anise. Flavours of dark cherry, pomegranate and chocolate earth flow through the medium weight palate. Fine tannins and natural acidity focus the fruit into the moreish, savoury finish.
