Sourced from 100% Frankland River fruit, Flametree's Shiraz is a varietal of distinctiveness and a sense of place. A lovely nose of berry fruit leading to fruit driven palate of rich cherry, spice and liquorice tones with soft velvety tannins. A wonderful example of elegant, perfumed Shiraz.

Blue and blackberry with rich succulent plum fruit fills the palate with layered with black pepper and anise. Plush layers of supplefruit tannins provide excellent support.

Still very youthful, the quality French oak riding high in the saddle. This is a wine of excellent quality, ticking every box. Its texture and balance are admirable, the varietal character likewise.

Margaret River is renowned for its premium Siraz wines. This example emanates from one of Wilyabrup's a multi star rated Halliday Winereis. The fruit was harvested in Mid-April when the skin tannins are ripe and the flavours are bold. The whole berries add some spice and complexity to the wine. Aromas of glazed plums, cloves and cracked peppercorns give way to a rich palate with hints of citrus blossom, oyster shell and vanilla pod compliment a long and complex finish, further exhibiting a bright fruit core and pure longevity of pristine tannin. The fruit is de-stemmed with no crushing of the berries so that we begin whole berry fermentation. The whole berries seem to add some spice and complexity to the wine. Our Shiraz seems to enjoy relatively cool ferments, plenty of aeration and gentle treatment. The wine is gently pressed of skins, near dryness, based on taste.The bubbly purple wine finishes its fermentation in the presence of mainly French oak, with the smallest portion of American oak. The wine is racked when it has finished its malolactic fermentation, and then once or twice more over the season based on its individual requirements. Hand Picked- Matured for 18 months in French oak (50%new). Brilliant crinmson-purple; a very complex wine on the bouquet and medium to full-bodied palate alike; the new oak certainly plays role, but it's the spice black fruit and fine tannins that build the perfect platform for a wine with avery long future.

Balanced and elegant tannins, nicely integrated oak, gives the wine balance and structure. Ø WINEMAKING Each parcel of fruit is gently crushed and transferred into small open fermenters. Heading down boards keep the cap submerged for better skin contact. The fermenters are temperature controlled to provide optimum conditions. Gentle extraction is achieved by the draining of wine from the skins and returning back over. Wine is then transferred to temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for maturation. The grapes for this spectacular Best Blocks Shiraz were sourced from the Miamup Road vineyard. The fruit was harvested, crushed, and transferred to stainless steel vessels for fermentation. Post maturation in a combination of American and French barriques for 18 months, the resulting wine features a deep purple red colour. A swirl of the glass presents scintillating aromas of freshly cracked pepper, mixed berries, cocoa bean, spice and vanilla. Fine grained tannins integrate with the soft palate containing ripe red fruits and spices. The finish is elegant and lengthy. This delightful Shiraz can be enjoyed now, or within a cellaring term of eight years. It tastes excellent with char grilled porterhouse steak alongside mustard butter sauce and seasonal vegetables.
