Krondorf Chardonnay

Krondorf is a Barossa wine name that is steeped in history and tradition. Beginning with the establishment of the Glenview winery back in 1850s, the Krondorf name was re-born by Grant Burge back in 1978 and today is one of the most successful wineries on the wine show circuit winning countless trophies and gold medals in the past 10 years. This Chardonnay is a bright straw colour with hints of golden yellow, while on the nose aromas of melon and citrus typical of the varietal are present. The long and persistent palate is wonderfully textured and a great match for some smoked trout.

Mountadam High Eden Estate Chardonnay

Displays classic Chardonnay characters of white peach, nectarine and fresh figs. The palate is fresh and vibrant with fruit flavours of citrus and white peach. Maturation in French oak provides subtle nutmeg and clove characters on the palate, while a clean slatey acid backbone provides length and structure to the wine. The wine is complex with no single character dominating the wine. The flavour of the wine persists long after it has left the mouth.

Mountadam Eden Valley Chardonnay

On release, the wine has a complex aroma. Lifted yellow peach and nectarine characters dominate. Subtle spice and creamy characters add to the wines aromatic complexity. The palate is restrained and elegant. It displays the same fruit characters of peach and nectarine through-out. The mid and back palates are driven by a gentle line of lemon-like acid. Mountadam was first setup in 1972 by the late David Wynn, a pioneer of the wine industry an founder of Wynns Coonawarra Estate. Wynn made the winery famous on the back of superb cool climate wines, supported by his son Adam (who the winery is named after). Adam held onto the winery until 2002 when it was sold to luxury goods business LVMH. The winery returned to family hands again in 2006 when it was purchased by South Australian farmer and accountant David Brown and his wife Jenni. In late 2015 the Browns acquired the second High Eden vineyard established by Wynn. The two vineyards are dissected by High Eden road. The Brown family are keen to continue Wynn's vision to produce wines of elegance and structure. A focus on sustainable low input viticulture will guarentee the success of the vineyards into the future. From 2015, Helen McCarthy has steered the ship as Chief Winemaker.

FEIRE Blanc de Blancs Methode Traditionelle sparkling white

The 2019 (Feire) Blanc De Blancs Sparkling was made using an intricate process called Méthode Traditionnelle—the same time-honored approach used to make French Champagne. The Chardonnay fruit was picked early and sourced from the cool climate of Eden Valley, a high altitude sub-region in the Barossa. The freshly pressed juice is immediately settled and cold fermented in stainless steel. The base wine is tiraged and yeast is introduced into the bottle with sugar for a sec ondary fermentation under pressure (which creates the fine bead of bubbles). This wine was ‘En Tirage’ for three years where the secondary characters developed in the wine. It was hand-riddled in 2022 and disgorged in December the same year. The wine is ready to drink, but it will age gracefully for approximately 5 years. This Chardonnay cuvee is the epitome of finesse and elegance. (Colour) Medium straw (Nose) Freshly baked bread with grapefruit and white musk top-notes and mineral undertones (Palate) The Chardonnay grapes are picked early, when sugar levels are lower and acid levels are higher achieving balance and a crisp, flinty taste, on the palate. Since it is a vintage wine that has been aged on lees the complexity of flavours include lemon cream, honey, almond and toast - an impressive flavour profile whilst retain ing freshness and vibrant bubbles. The consistent fine bead is also noteworthy re sulting in a special offering and well beyond your standard Australian sparkling wine.
