This new and exclusive Trophy winning Shiraz is a high quality, single vineyard Shiraz from Barossa Valley icon, Château Tanunda. An opulent, full-bodied wine with lifted aromas of blackberry, blueberry and cracked black pepper supported by spicy, dark berry fruits on the palate. The extensive finish is framed by elegant, fine-grained tannins from maturation in a combination of new and seasoned American and French oak barrels. The Château Tanunda Mattiske Road Shiraz 2015 was awarded the Trophy for Best 2015 Shiraz at the 2016 Marananga Wine Show. Gold Medal and 95 Points at Barossa Wine Show 2017.

Intriguing aromas of rose petals and a summer pudding of lifted red fruits, berries and a hit of cinnamon and Asian spice. The palate is opulent, with intense red berries balanced by soft velvety tannins and supple oak with great balance from the acid reknown in Barossa Grenache. 'The cold, wet 2011 vintage hit the Barossa Valley particularly hard, wiping out huge tracts of vineyards. Dandelion's blend, then, came as a delightful surprise a tender, juicy, seductive drop that made the bottle seem too small. It's a blend of grenache (85 per cent), shiraz (10 per cent) and mataro (aka mourvedre or monastrell). The back label hints at how winemaker Elena Brooks and the Dandelion crew saved the day, "handpicking selected bunches" (that is, avoiding the rotten ones) of the three varieties for co-fermentation and ultimate success. This is definitely a Grenache-driven GSM! Subtle toasty oak and caramel lead to a deep-fruited, dark cherry and strawberry palate with hints of aniseed and turkish delight. Gentle refreshing acidity gives great line and drives the brooding and delicious fruit through to a lingering finish. The majority of the Grenache is from an old cool Williamstown vineyard on the border of the Adelaide Hills. Blended with Grenache from a special Krondorf Road vineyard. Early harvest Syrah is from a 69 year old Ebenezer vineyard and from the Heinrich vineyard in the Lyndoch foothills, which unites with the lovely blue-fruit characters of Syrah from a small Northern Eden Valley vineyard on the outskirts of Angaston. The remaining 4% is a selected barrel of powerful spicy Mourvèdre.

The wine reveals deep garnet and ruby hues on the eye. A nose of coffee grounds, cocoa powder, sage bush and brambled blueberry gives way to violets, smoked white spice, roasted coconut and cedar wood. On the palate the wine has fruit sweetness wrapped around lengthy, chalky tannins and touches of moreish olive tapenade to finish.
