D'arenberg The Piceous Lodestar McLaren Vale Shiraz
d'Arenberg's Osborn family are founding members of Australia's First Families of Wine, with the flamboyant Chester Osborn now at the helm. Their iconic 5-level Cube cellar door offers a range of wine experiences including a restaurant and a wine sensory room. This is 2014 release from McLaren Vale's ..."black-red and impenetrable; no shortage of flavour and concentration... a resounding finish. 95pts" Jane Faulkner, The Halliday Wine Companion. Of the name, the d'Arenberg site tells us: "A lodestar is something on which your attention is fixed, and the piceous, pitch black nature of this wine is certain to keep your focus until the bottle is finished."
Ox Hardy Slate Shiraz
Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard Brooks Road Shiraz
Exceptionally potent and powerful, initially giving the (false) impression its alcohol is more than 14%. Retasting brings it back into perspective, the two varieties bonded, yet each preserving its varietal integrity and structural architecture. A classic Australian blend of exceptional quality, destined to outlive most who taste it.
SC PANNELL Koomilya GT Block Shiraz
Kay Brothers Amery Vineyards Block 6 McLaren Vale Shiraz
Block 6 was hand-picked from the 125 year old vines on the 21st and 30th of March 2017, producing a healthy and clean crop of 11.37 tonnes. The grapes were crushed, de-stemmed and plunged twice daily while spending 11 days on skins in our traditional open fermenters. The wine was then basket pressed and matured for 20 months in 40% new French and American oak puncheons. Bottled in February 2019.
Haselgrove Seanair McLaren Vale Shiraz
Rich and opulent displaying aromas of deep plum and black cherry with hints of complex herb and delicate oak spice. The palate is full flavoured yet elegant with dark fruits and bright red berries, framed by firm, structural tannins and moreish acidity.
Wirra Wirra RSW Shiraz
Wirra Wirra's flagship Shiraz has won many accolades over the years, including the 'world's best Shiraz'. It's loaded with distinctive McLaren Vale blueberry and chocolate characters, supported by plums, violets and spice, and tannin structure destined for 10 more years in the cellar.
Chapel Hill Vicar Shiraz
Two of the vineyards contributing to this wine are named "Inkwell"! A solid clue as to the wine's colour lies right there. One of the benchmark reds of McLaren Vale, The Vicar impresses yet again. Not just a big, dark thing, balance and buoyancy of fruit separate if from the pack of huge local reds. Careful cellaring has seen a touch of cured meat flavour emerge to complement the ample black, plummy, chocolate and spiced fruit cake layering. Cellar as long as you like or drink now with a prime cut.
Bekkers Syrah
