Named after Patricia Brown, the Patricia Shiraz is Brown Brothers benchmark Shiraz boasting richly concentrated, spicy fruit flavours balanced elegantly by sweet oak flavours and fine tannins resulting in a full-bodied, rich, textured red wine which can be enjoyed now and will continue to develop for the next decade.

Vibrant, youthful colour, medium density and lovely purple tints for this Shiraz by Brokenwood. Being a cooler year the aromas are more on the spice cherry side than ripe and opulent. Medium weight palate and again spice and savoury edges. The tell-tale McLaren Vale jube fruit is there along with background oak.

Tucked away nicely in the Adelaide Hills, Sidewood Estate have made an art form out of crafting some of the very best single vineyard cool-climate wines available in Australia. Owen and Cassandra Inglis purchased the boutique property in 2004 and immediately set about making their vision become a reality. Their Sidewood Shiraz displays that vision to perfection. Attention to detail is the key here which enables flavours of red cherry, currants and dark plum to shine through along with hints of cinnamon and spice. The texture is beguiling and gives promise to a wine that will age for up to a decade.

The Savaterre vineyard is elevated at 430m above sea level and is farmed along organic principles. No pesticides are used. An incredibly complex, lifted, lively and intense nose. Exotic aromas of smoked meats, dried red rose, allspice, clove, dark plum, dark cherry ,blackberry, mulberry, mandarin, violets, sandalwood, bay and funky undergrowth. This aroma really revs me up, it continues to evolve as time goes by. This wine is alive! Complexity, poise, sinewy acid, fine tannins wrapped around a sleek core of pristine dark fruit. Fresh lifted aromas of plums and cherries abound with black pepper and warm spices on the nose; This Frankland Estate Shiraz has earthy savoury notes that combine seamlessly with subtle oak flavours and grainy tannin on the palate. It is an elegant cool climate Shiraz with a textured palate and a balanced finish.

This complex and elegant wine has lifted aromas of fresh rich red fruits and white mint chocolate. Strawberries, raspberries, dark cherries and blackcurrants are the base of this wine but has depth in texture and flavour are given by rich tannins and subtle spice from ageing in French oak. Well matched to heavier weight dishes - veal and beef based. Also perfect with hard cheeses and aged cheddar.

This cool climate Shiraz is superb - enticing the drinker with spice, clove and red berry fruit aromas. The palate is rich and concentrated, paying scant homage to its cool climate origins.

Penfolds Bin 2 Shiraz Mataro (also known as Mourvèdre) has a history going back to 1960 when Penfolds made a traditional "Burgundy" style. Penfolds have always loved Mataro (Mourvèdre) for its fantastic ability to blend marvelously with traditional South Australian stalwarts like Shiraz. Adding luscious complexity and palate grip, the Bin 2 is aged in older oak to emphasise the spicy savouriness of Mataro (Mourvèdre) that complements the plush richness of Shiraz.

Brokenwood and the Hunter Valley region is experience somewhat of a renaissance of late. Quality wines for a great prices just like this nice Hunter Shiraz. Typical earthy notes with hints of leather and spice all wrapped around dark brooding plum and cherry fruit. Quality oak imparts a subtle cedar character and fine grained tannins complete the wine that finishes long and smooth.

2017 gifted the Yarra Valley with superb growing conditions, and the resulting wines, like this beauty, have wonderful harmony, balance and depth.Medium garnet colour. Dark plummy fruit with spicy complexity and subtle leaf and graphite.
