Glenmorangie Finealta Private Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Note: Product has come from a private collection and as such has some minor scuffing/scratches/handling marks. Actual product not pictured. Note: No gift box supplied. Finealta, pronounced ‘Finalta’, is Scottish Gaelic for ‘elegant’. It is a recreation of Glenmorangie based on a recipe dating back to 1903, recently uncovered in the distillery’s archives. Glenmorangie's Bill Lumsden comments, “We followed the recipe meticulously, which included marrying whiskies of different ages and from different cask types. The final result is a whisky of such depth and distinction that we selected it as the second release in Glenmorangie’s exclusive Private Edition.” It features a light touch of peatiness, originating from an era when the Glenmorangie Distillery used to dry its malted barley in a peat-fired kiln. Distillery archives show that during the early 1900s this Glenmorangie dram was served in the American Bar of The Savoy, one of London’s most prestigious hotels, during La Belle Époque and at the height of Art Nouveau, the first modern art movement of the 20th century. The packaging design for Glenmorangie Finealta is inspired by Art Nouveau, which had a style for incorporating elements from nature such as floral and plant motifs into artwork, architecture and home furnishings. Tasting note: Bright gold appearance with a pale straw hue. A delicate and shy aroma initially yields salty / biscuity notes, intensifying with a short time in the glass as a sensual waft of lanolin-like peat emerges followed by suggestions of citrus peel. Surprisingly, ten minutes sees the peatiness dramatically retreat, as sweet malt takes centre stage. The palate offers tangy, semi sweet malt and grain flavours and a mild pettiness. Soft and silky with a delicately spicy underlay. Slightly oily mouthfeel. Juicy finish. Concludes light, dry and faintly peaty. Despite the change of style, this manages to retain much of the distillery's typical elegance. 46% Alc./Vol.

Aerolite Lyndsay 10 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Darkness 8 Year Old Sherry Finished Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Named for their emphasis on deeply coloured, sherry matured malts, the 'Darkness' series is the creation of Atom Brands, a sister company of a popular UK retailer. The core expression is this eight year old initially matured in ex-bourbon barrels before being transferred into custom-made Oloroso sherry octaves for at least six months. Finishing in small casks (80 litres or less) makes for a vastly increased surface area to volume ratio compared to the much larger sherry butts, leading to extra cask influence and more of those intense sherried notes we've all come to know and love. The liquid inside hails from an unnamed Speyside distillery that utilises worm tubs and two and a bit distillation – so whisky boffins should be able to narrow it down quite easily. This is set to be a continuous release in a range that was previously built around very limited editions, though the name of the game hasn't changed - big ol' helpings of sherried deliciousness await. A winner of five gold medals at global competitions, it's also non-chill filtered, bottled without any additional colouring, and unlike its limited edition cousins, comes in 700ml bottles. 47.8% Alc./Vol.
Hart Brothers Single Longmorn 11 Year Old Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Even at this entry-level age statement, a single cask of Longmorn is a relative rarity. Part of the Chivas portfolio and once readily procurable on the indie market where Gordon & Macphail has been the most prolific bottler of this special distillery - owing likely to the fact that they still own the original trademark for the label - official releases have been few and far between. With four pairs of onion-shaped stills producing a pure, complex and honeyed spirit with great texture, add a first-fill sherry butt and you may just have one of the better sub 12 year olds money can buy. Bottled in March 2022 at 55.5% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
